Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for determining absolute positions of seismic or acoustic transient signal sources. The basic idea of the invention is to use, at a measuring station, the signal resemblance for signals from different signal sources for directly measuring the difference in time between corresponding signals from different signal sources, whereupon in the selected calculating method, for obtaining the absolute positions of the signal sources, these direct differences in time are included as one of the variables that should conform well with the expected values. By the term "direct" is meant that the absolute times of arrival are not used.
