Abstract
In a device for electrochemically sterilizing a liquid, especially one comprising water, by means of an anodic oxidation chamber (1) through which the liquid to be sterilized flows, a disturbance or impairment of the dental procedure caused by the gases evolving during sterilization on use in a dental practice, especially in the coolant system of a dental apparatus, is to be avoided without employing means impairing the operation of the anodic oxidation chamber as regards energy requirement, etc., and for this purpose the anodic oxidation chamber (1) is located in a dental apparatus (2) and is connected via a connecting line (18) to a separation vessel (3) through which the sterilized gas-containing liquid flows and which has an upper outlet (4) for liquid rich in gas and a lower outlet (5) for liquid poor in gas, the upper outlet (4) leading via a line (19) to a recombinator (6) recombining the gases evolved on passage through the anodic oxidation chamber and from which a discharge line (7) leads to a spittoon system (8) or to the drain of the dental apparatus (2), and the lower outlet (5) leading via a line (20) to the coolant system (10) of the dental apparatus (2). <IMAGE>
