Abstract

The method for branching the channels of a terminal multiplexer in a data transmission system which is operated in accordance with CCITT Recommendations is carried out by linking the 2048 kbit/s multiplexer inputs and outputs into a digital loop. The transit circuits receive the channel information and transpose it into the transmitting direction. It is directed in the multiplexers into the unterminated channels which are forwarded. The branching of the channels can be carried out in two or more branch lines, the total number of channels being 30. Some of the national traffic bits in channel 0 are used for the loop alarm. The bit combination is thereby represented and is modified in the multiplexer passage in such a way that the alarm source can be located in every multiplexer. The loop alarm is adapted to CCITT Recommendations, this being made possible by the additional multiplexer alarm circuit. In this way, a conventional multiplexer is equipped for channel branching by means of technologically simple transit circuits and an additional alarm circuit, whereby a branching circuit disposed in the branching point is no longer required. <IMAGE>
