Abstract
An overload protection device for a handling device, comprises an arm 4, which is carried by and movable relative to a carrier 1 and carries a tool, a safety switch 22 provided between the carrier 1 and the arm 4 and included in the drive control circuit, a receptacle 2 carried by the carrier 1 and an element 3 which is carried by the arm 4 and is movable relative to the receptacle 2 and subjected to a yielding pressure force by springs 19, 20 and connected to the receptacle 2 by conical stops 17, 18 cooperating with counterstops in the form of conical openings 14, 15, 16 carried by the receptacle 2, which yielding pressure force determines a position which is limited by the stops 17, 18 and can be re-established by a movement of the stops 17, 18. The switch 22 de-energizes the drive in response to axial and angular relative movements between the receptacle 2 and the element 3. The element 3 is so mounted as to be also transversely movable relative to the receptacle 2. The springs 19, 20 may be replaced by magnetic coupling between the element 3 and the arm 4, while the conical stops 17, 18 may be replaced by subtantially hemispherical stops. <IMAGE>
