Abstract

A method for automatically selecting a gear in a powertrain of a motor vehicle, comprising:- determining (101) that the motor vehicle approaches an intersection,- acquiring (102) information relating to traffic conditions in the intersection,- based on the acquired information relating to the traffic conditions, selecting (103) a target gear, which target gear is to be engaged when accelerating the motor vehicle in connection with the intersection.
