Abstract
Description
The invention relates to analyzers for the composition of gases that can be used, including in the composition of leak detectors.
[http://www.gazanalizator.ru]). Detecting leaks of gaseous substances, for example, methane from various pipelines and pressure vessels, as well as measuring the current concentration of a gaseous substance, for example, methane in the air (for example, in mines) is an urgent task. For this purpose, various gas analyzers are used that operate on different physical principles (semiconductor, thermocatalytic, electrochemical, photoionization, optical, etc. [http://www.gazanalizator.ru]). Under normal conditions, the background concentration of methane in the air is about 2 ppm [V.N. Arefiev, P.M. Akimenko, F.V. Kashin, L.B. Upenek, "Background component of methane concentration in surface air (monitoring station Obninsk)" // Izvestiya RAN. Physics of the atmosphere and ocean, 2015, volume 51, no. 6, p. 1-9]. This sensitivity level is not available for most commercial methane gas analyzers in use. Known NDIR methane sensor [http://gas-sensor.ru/ndir-gas-sensor.html], which is widely used to measure the concentration of methane in air at a methane concentration of 500-1000 ppm and above. This sensor is not applicable for measuring low concentrations of methane in air at the background level and below.
An important condition for constructing a highly sensitive laser gas analyzer is the choice of the optical scheme of the gas analyzer, as well as the operating wavelength of the laser radiation, which coincides with one of the absorption bands of the analyzed gas.
In laser gas analyzers, both non-resonant and resonant optical-acoustic detectors (OAD) of various types are used.
Resonant OADs have their own advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages of resonant OAM (especially bulk OAM with a high Q-factor of resonances) is the dependence of their resonant frequency on the ambient temperature and the composition of the analyzed gas mixture, which often leads to a violation of the calibration of the optical-acoustic response of such detectors. To ensure high accuracy and reproducibility of the results of measuring the concentration of the analyzed gas, it is necessary to quickly determine the current resonant frequency of the OAM (f 1 ), modulate the power of the probe laser radiation at this frequency, and carry out measurements also at this frequency.
[A. Miklos, P. Hess, Z. Bozoki, "Application of acoustic resonators in photoacoustic trace gas analysis and metrology" // Review Scientific Instruments, 2001, Vol. 72, №4, p. 1937-1955], Фотоакустическая чувствительность такого резонансного дифференциального детектора составляет около 1,0×10-9 Вт⋅см-1.Closest to the proposed is a resonant differential optical-acoustic detector [A. Miklos, P. Hess, Z. Bozoki, "Application of acoustic resonators in photoacoustic trace gas analysis and metrology" // Review Scientific Instruments, 2001, Vol. 72, no. 4, p. 1937-1955], including two independent open acoustic resonators, made in the form of straight tubes of circular cross-section, located parallel to each other and connected at the ends by two buffer cavities, the volume of which significantly exceeds the volume of the tubes. With this design, during the passage of a laser beam through one of the acoustic resonators of the detector, modulated by an obturator with a frequency f 1 equal to the lowest resonant acoustic frequency of the detector, in the presence of absorption of laser radiation in the gas, acoustic oscillations occur in this resonator due to the optical-acoustic effect. At the ends of the acoustic resonator, nodes of the sound wave are installed, and in the center - an antinode. The resonant frequency of the detector is f 1 = v / 2L, where v is the speed of sound, L is the length of the acoustic resonators. Acoustic vibrations are recorded by a microphone located in the central part of this resonator at the antinode of the wave. The second microphone is located in the central part of another acoustic resonator, in which, due to the presence of buffer connecting cavities of a large volume, an acoustic wave at a frequency f 1 caused by the absorption of laser radiation in the first resonator does not arise. Signals from both microphones are amplified by a differential amplifier. The detector allows operation in a carrier gas flow, allows obtaining information in real time, achieving low levels of acoustic and electrical noise and high sensitivity. The input and output of the gas flow in the area of the nodes of acoustic waves leads to a decrease in the noise level from the gas flow. In order for the flow noise to remain at a sufficiently low level, the flow must be laminar. The gas flow passes through both acoustic resonators, producing approximately the same flow noise in both resonators. The symmetry of the detector makes it possible to reduce the noise from the gas flow and the influence of external disturbances. All noise components that are in phase in the two cavities are effectively canceled out by the differential amplifier, which improves the signal-to-noise ratio. The photoacoustic sensitivity of such a resonant differential detector is about 1.0 × 10 -9 W cm -1 .
[A. Miklos, P. Hess, Z. Bozoki, "Application of acoustic resonators in photoacoustic trace gas analysis and metrology" // Review Scientific Instruments, 2001, Vol. 72, №4, p. 1937-1955.] However, the authors of [A. Miklos, P. Hess, Z. Bozoki, "Application of acoustic resonators in photoacoustic trace gas analysis and metrology" // Review Scientific Instruments, 2001, Vol. 72, no. 4, p. 1937-1955.] Made a mistake in describing the acoustic waves that occur in this detector. When one of the acoustic resonators of this differential detector is irradiated with power-modulated laser radiation and the presence of absorption of radiation pulses by a gas at the lowest resonant frequency of the OAD (f 1 ), pressure oscillations (optical-acoustic signal) are formed in both acoustic resonators, which are in antiphase (obtained experimentally ). In this case, an acoustic mode of an annular configuration is formed inside the detector, in which half of the acoustic wavelength fits into resonance along the length of the acoustic resonators. The propagation trajectory of pressure oscillations of the annular acoustic mode at the lowest resonant frequency f 1 of the differential OAD protrudes from the acoustic resonators of the detector into the buffer cavities on both sides at a distance of 1 ... 2 mm, bending around the partition separating the acoustic resonators. In this case, antinodes of pressure oscillations of a standing acoustic wave are located in the middle of both acoustic resonators, and pressure oscillation nodes are located at the transitions from one acoustic resonator to another near the edges of the partition. Thus, the propagation trajectory of the annular acoustic mode at the lowest resonant frequency f 1 of the differential OAM does not reach the detector windows, which cover the open ends of the OAD buffer cavities, which leads to a decrease in the sensitivity of the differential OAM to the effect of parasitic absorption of laser radiation in the detector windows.
