Abstract
Description
The invention relates to methods for producing a high-temperature silica melt, used mainly to produce silica glass, and more specifically silica melt from silica sand in the production of quartz ceramics.
Among the materials created on the basis of silica, a special place is occupied by quartz ceramics based on a highly concentrated suspension of quartz glass. The methods for producing products from quartz glass are very different from the methods adopted in conventional glass technology. This is due to the high viscosity of the silica melt at temperatures of the order of 2000 ° C. Of scientific and practical interest are materials made of quartz glass using ceramic technology - quartz ceramics. Traditionally, to obtain quartz ceramics, crushed silica glass obtained by a flame method is used.
A known method of producing glass in a glass melting furnace (RF 2301201, C03B 5/235, 06/20/2007), according to which the combustion of pulverized fuel (petroleum coke) is used as a heat source for melting a glass charge in order to obtain glass.
A known method of glass melting (RF 2422386, C03B 5/193, 06/27/2011), according to which the glass mixture is double-heated: from the top - with gaseous products of combustion and from the bottom - due to the proportion of glass mass that is transported upward by bubblers, and then directly under the charge returns in the direction of the loading hole.
The known methods are characterized by a relatively low productivity of the melting units and do not allow to obtain a high-quality melt from raw materials, the melting temperature of which is more than 1700 ° C, while it is impossible to achieve the required melt viscosity and the melt is not uniform in chemical composition.
In comparison with traditional technologies, the most economical and efficient methods are the melting of refractory silicate materials using the energy of a low-temperature plasma.
A known method of producing a mineral melt by plasma heating using the installation according to the patent RU 2355651, IPC C03B 37/04, publ. 05/20/2009. According to this method, mineral raw materials are subjected to gradual melt. Inside the cooled plasma reactor, a powder of refractory mineral material is fed through the spiral channel from above. The pre-unwound powder, continuing to spin in the stream of low-temperature plasma, warms up, evenly melts and flows into the additional (main) melting module made of refractory material. In the module, the melt is heated by a plasma arc and Joule heating due to the electrical conductivity of the melt. An increase in the residence time of the dispersed material in the plasma stream ensures uniform heating of the material and, as a consequence, the quality of the products. The supply of untwisted raw material and a gradual melt suggest the presence of additional devices, which complicates the overall design for receiving the melt. In addition, the supply of powder of refractory mineral material in this way does not exclude the blowing of fine particles by a stream of low-temperature plasma and their underfusion. In the case of using high-siliceous raw materials, there is a possibility of underfusion of material particles by a low-temperature plasma flow. These disadvantages reduce the effectiveness and efficiency of the method of producing mineral melt.
The closest in technical essence adopted for the prototype of the claimed method is the technology for producing refractory silicate melt using a plasma installation according to patent RU 2503628, IPC C03B 37/04, publ. January 10, 2014. According to the prototype, ash and slag waste from energy production is subjected to melting. Previously, the entire volume of the water-cooled furnace is filled with powdered raw materials. In the melting zone, between the plasmatron mounted on top of the melting furnace and the graphite anode located at the bottom of the melting furnace, a low-temperature plasma flow is initiated. Under the influence of low-temperature plasma, silicate raw materials melt. After the melting furnace is completely filled with melt from the side surface of the furnace, new dosed portions of the powdered raw material are introduced directly into the obtained melt. A portion of the feed to the melting zone of the furnace is produced continuously. Particles of incoming raw materials, falling into a high-temperature melt, mix with it and evenly melt. When the melt reaches the set level, the excess melt is automatically drained. In comparison with the analogue of RU 2355651, the prototype method eliminates the loss of particles, to obtain a homogeneous and better melt at low energy costs.
It should be noted that the content of silicon dioxide in ash and slag waste reaches not more than 60%. The melt from such raw materials by the prototype method is homogeneous and low viscosity. In the case of using quartz sand as a feedstock, in which the content of silicon dioxide is, as a rule, 97-99%, a continuous supply of portions to the melting zone can affect the quality of the finished melt, i.e., the melt is obtained with insufficient uniformity and increased viscosity.
The objective of the invention is to develop a technology for producing a temperature and chemical composition uniform melt from quartz sand, which corresponds to the optimal mode of operation of the plasma chemical reactor, which provides low specific energy consumption.
The technical result consists in obtaining a chemically uniform siliceous melt due to the portioned supply of raw materials and combined exposure of the raw materials to the energy of low-temperature plasma and Joule heating throughout the furnace.
The task and the technical result are achieved as follows.
In common with the prototype of the inventive method for producing silica fusion, the entire volume of the water-cooled melting furnace is preliminarily filled with refractory silicate powder raw material, after which a low-temperature plasma flow is initiated in the melting zone between the plasmatron mounted on top of the melting furnace and the anode installed on the bottom of the furnace by subjecting silicate powdery raw materials to melting. After the melting furnace is completely filled with melt from the side surface of the melting furnace, new dosed portions of the powdered raw material are introduced directly into the obtained melt. When the melt reaches the set level, they automatically drain excess melt.
In contrast to the prototype of the present method, silica sand with a silica content of 97-99% is subjected to melting. In the melting zone, a low-temperature plasma flow with a power of 35-56 kW, specific heat power of 1.8-2.6 · 10 6 W / m 2 and a temperature of 2900-3700 ° C is initiated. The difference is also that each new dosed portion of the feed is introduced into the melting zone continuously for 5 minutes, and before serving each subsequent portion of the feed, a break of 2 minutes is taken.
Differences from the prototype, sufficient to obtain a silicate melt suitable for producing silica glass in the production of quartz ceramics by the method of highly concentrated binder suspension, were obtained during numerous experiments. The use of the medium of low-temperature plasma in the developed method, which has a high concentration of energy, will reduce the specific energy consumption when producing a melt by reducing the time of its formation.
The method is based on the interaction of highly concentrated plasma flows with powdered high-siliceous raw materials (silica sand) with a silicon dioxide content of 97-99%, which results in the heating of dispersed particles with a size of 80-120 microns with subsequent formation of a melt.
To implement the method, the installation shown in the drawing can be used. The installation contains a plasmatron 1, a
It is possible to use the design of a metering device with a screw feeder 5, as in the prototype, which ensures the introduction of raw materials not from above onto the surface of the melt, but from the side of the body of the melting furnace and directly into the region of the melt, which can be replaced by any other feed system of raw powder material. The design of the dosing device should be performed with a frequency automatic controller, which allows for the portioned introduction of raw materials for 5 minutes with an interval of 2 minutes. It was established that the supply of raw materials with an interval of 2 minutes contributes to obtaining a silicate melt uniform in temperature and chemical composition.
The method is as follows.
The smelter 3 is filled with quartz sand. Turn on the DC source. Between the anode 4 and the plasmatron 1, a highly concentrated plasma flow 6 is initiated. At a temperature of 2900-3700 ° C, quartz sand begins to melt. After the melting furnace 3 is completely filled with a quartz sand melt, metered portions of raw materials (silica sand) are introduced into the melting furnace. The particles of each portion of the feed received through a certain interval, falling into the high-temperature melt, mix with it and evenly melt. The raw material is introduced into the thickness of the already formed melt within 5 minutes, and by means of Joule heating throughout the entire volume of the melting furnace, the introduced powdered raw material is melt and the melt is homogenized. As a result, the required melt viscosity is achieved and its uniform heating is ensured.
The use of a plasma torch with a power of 35-56 kW, specific heat power of 1.8-2.6 · 10 6 W / m 2 and a temperature of 2900-3700 ° C as an energy source for generating a high-siliceous melt is sufficient to obtain chemically uniform in temperature and chemical the composition of the silicate melt from quartz sand, suitable for producing quartz glass in the production of quartz ceramics by the method of highly concentrated binder suspension.
