Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of fiber-optic communication technology and can be used in the reconstruction of long fiber-optic transmission lines to increase their throughput.
A device [1] is known for increasing the throughput of a fiber optic transmission line, including compensating optical fibers that are connected in series with optical fibers of the building lengths of the optical cable of the transmission line at the ends of the transmission line, and their chromatic dispersion is opposite in sign to the chromatic dispersion of the optical fibers of the transmission line . This device allows to reduce the resulting chromatic dispersion of the fiber optic transmission line. However, due to the action of non-linearity factors, in particular, the four-wave mixing effect characteristic of systems with spectral separation of channels, the scope of this method and its ability to increase the throughput of fiber-optic transmission lines are limited.
Known devices [2-6] for increasing the throughput of a fiber optic transmission line, containing the construction lengths of the optical cable, the optical fibers of which are connected in series, optical amplifiers, sequentially included in the optical fibers of the transmission line, while sections of the transmission line on which the construction the lengths of the optical cable with optical fibers with positive chromatic dispersion alternate with the sections of the transmission line on which the building lengths of the optical of the cable with optical fibers with negative chromatic dispersion, and, at the same time, the distance between the optical amplifiers, the period with which optical fibers with positive and negative chromatic dispersion alternate, the optical radiation power at the output of the optical amplifiers and the transmission parameters of the optical fibers so that dispersion-controlled solitons propagate in the transmission line. The influence of chromatic dispersion and nonlinearity factors is significantly reduced when using the operating mode of a fiber-optic transmission line, in which solitons propagate in it [2]. For these devices, the period with which optical fibers with positive and negative chromatic dispersion alternate can significantly exceed the distance between the optical amplifiers. This approach is mainly used for ultra-long transnational fiber-optic communication lines. It provides a significant increase in the length of regeneration sections, however, the length of the amplification sections increases slightly, which limits its use for terrestrial fiber-optic transmission lines and, in particular, makes it economically inefficient for their reconstruction. In addition, the implementation of this device during the reconstruction of the transmission line requires the replacement of optical fiber in sections of sections, which, in turn, requires replacement of the building lengths of the optical cable and, as a rule, is associated with a large amount of earthwork and significant costs. This makes the use of this device for the reconstruction of transmission lines economically inefficient and, accordingly, limits its scope.
A device [7] is known for increasing the throughput of a fiber optic transmission line, comprising the construction lengths of the optical cable, the optical fibers of which are connected in series in the couplings, optical amplifiers connected in series in the optical fibers, and the distance between the optical amplifiers is divided into elementary sections, each of which includes a portion of the transmission line on which the building lengths of the optical cable with optical fibers are laid, the chromatic dispersion of which is greater and greater than the average chromatic dispersion of the transmission line as a whole, and the portion of the transmission line on which the construction lengths of the optical cable with optical fibers are laid, the chromatic dispersion of which is negative and less than the average chromatic dispersion of the transmission line as a whole, the average value of the chromatic dispersion of the transmission line in generally lies in the region of anomalous dispersion, the length and chromatic dispersion of the optical fibers in the sections satisfy the condition:

The essence of the invention is the expansion of the scope.
This essence is achieved in that a device for increasing the throughput of a fiber optic transmission line, comprising construction lengths of an optical cable, the optical fibers of which are connected in series in the couplings, optical amplifiers sequentially included in the optical fibers, so that the distance between the optical amplifiers is divided into elementary sections, on each of which optical fibers with chromatic dispersion of opposite sign are connected in series, and the distance between the optical amplifiers and the length of the sections, the power of the optical radiation at the output of the optical amplifiers and the parameters of the optical fibers are selected so that dispersion-controlled solitons propagate in the transmission line, while the optical fibers in the building lengths of the optical cable have chromatic dispersion of the same sign, compensating optical fibers with chromatic dispersion of the opposite sign, optical fibers with increased nonlinearity and additional cassettes in the case of thermally insulating material, which are installed in the couplings, and compensating optical fibers and optical fibers with increased nonlinearity are stacked in additional cassettes in a body of thermally insulating material and are connected in series with each other and with fibers of the building lengths of the optical cable.
The drawing shows a structural diagram of a device for increasing the throughput of a fiber optic transmission line.
3.A device for increasing the throughput of a fiber optic transmission line contains the construction lengths of the optical cable 1, the optical fibers 2 of which are connected in series in the sleeves 3, the optical amplifiers 4, connected in series in the optical fibers 2, so that the distance between the optical amplifiers is divided into elementary sections, on each of which optical fibers with chromatic dispersion of the opposite sign are connected in series, optical fibers 2 in the building lengths of the optical cable 1 have a chromatic dispersion of the same sign and are connected in series in the sleeves 3 through a series-connected optical fiber with increased nonlinearity 5 and a compensating optical fiber with chromatic dispersion of the opposite sign 6, laid in additional cassettes in the housing of thermally insulating material 7, which are installed in the sleeves 3.
The device operates as follows. Due to the periodic inclusion of the optical amplifiers 4 and the selection of their parameters, the distribution of the optical signal power levels along the fiber-optic transmission line is controlled. Due to the periodic inclusion of compensating optical fibers 6 regulate the chromatic dispersion of the fiber optic transmission line. The distance between the optical amplifiers 4 and the length of the sections, the optical radiation output at the optical amplifiers 4 and the parameters of the optical fibers 2 of the building lengths of the optical cable 1, compensating optical fibers 6 and optical fibers with increased nonlinearity 5 are selected so that dispersion-controlled solitons propagate in the transmission line , which provides an increase in the throughput of the fiber optic line. Additional cassettes in the housing of thermally insulating material 7 protect the optical fibers 2, 5, 6 and their connections in the coupling from external influences.
The inclusion of compensating fibers, the chromatic dispersion of which has the opposite sign of the chromatic dispersion of optical fibers of the building lengths of the optical cable, and optical fibers with increased non-linearity is carried out periodically along the fiber-optic transmission line in the couplings, which, unlike the known method, which is a prototype, does not require laying optical cable. As a result, the volume of construction work and costs are significantly reduced, which allows the device to be used for the reconstruction of fiber-optic transmission lines put into operation, and, as a result, expands the scope of its application. In this case, it is possible to adapt to the distances between the couplings, the lengths and parameters of compensating optical fibers and fibers with increased nonlinearity, which ensures a stable propagation regime of dispersion-controlled solitons.
