Abstract

The method of fast channel change based on the prediction of TV channel selection in digital television allows the total time needed to change the TV channel to be shortened by the predictors (310 and 330) stored in the receiver (120) and the cloud server (110 ) to make a prediction of a channel that could be the next choice of user. The cloud server (110) has the function to monitor if there is a TV channel whose frequency exceeds the predetermined threshold and if it exists, to include this channel in the selection. Predicted TV channels and the most frequent channel are forwarded to the selector (360) who chooses TV channel which as a result of the selection gives the maximum accuracy or minimal error of choice, more precisely that TV channel for which there is the greatest possibility that it will be selected by the user. In this way, a pre-prepared TV channel for playback is produced, resulting in a faster display of images on the TV screen. The predictors (310 and 330) of the TV channel for the prediction take information from the user bases of the selected channels (320 and 340) which are formed based on the observation of the user habits of viewing the TV program. The user base of the selected channels (320) is formed for each user individually while the user base of the selected channels (340) is formed for all users in the viewed network.
