Abstract

An electric lock wherein the operation of the lock can be changed at a user lever by adjustment of a toggle component (14) in the bolt actuator. This adjustment is carried out in conjunction with switching the electrical operation of the lock by means of a simple jumper switch (25). This allows a lock to be manufactured and sold according to a single design whereby the operation (i.e. power-to-lock or power-to-unlock) may be set by a user. The lock also provides for a manual, preferably key, override system (101), which operates in a mechanical and/or electrical manner. This embodiment overrides the normal operation of the lock. The lock described is compact, unitary and requires little operator adjustment to install and operate. The lock further incorporates auto-sensing functionality (20, 21, 22, 23) in respect of its supply voltage.
