Abstract
In the transmission system, data signals are transmitted between a transmitting device (SE) and a receiving device (EE) in the form of successive bit groups, the bit groups in each case being formed by a fixed number of data bits and at least one additional bit in the form of a synchronisation bit belonging to an equidistantly distributed synchronisation bit sequence occurring repeatedly periodically. In the receiving device (EE), all bit tracks in each case defined by mutually corresponding bit locations of successive bit groups are simultaneously monitored with respect to the occurrence of the synchronisation bit sequence. During this process, the number of synchronisation bit sequences detected in the respective bit track is in each case determined at fixed time intervals occurring repeatedly periodically. The synchronisation bit track used is the bit track for which the highest number of synchronisation bit sequences has been determined in the respective time interval. <IMAGE>
