Abstract

The credit or cheque card, contains information characteristic to the card for account holder. The sum to be transacted is processed in a central unit, which manages the accounts, by being fed with characteristic data. The characteristic data and the sum of money involved will be fed into another account controller at the receiving account holder. The equipment at the second account holder is linked to a central processing unit via the telephone system. The card typically has embossed printing and perforations and a serial number of the account holder. The serial number has to be fed into the equipment with another number only known to the card owner.
