Abstract

Microbiocidal compsn. comprises 0.05-1.0 wt.% triclosan (2,4,4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxydiphenylether), 0.1-2.0 wt.% Na-EDTA, and 5-40 wt.% of a low alkanol, adjusted to pH 7.2-8.5 with triethanolamine and made up to 100% with water. Compsns. gives very rapid kill of bacteria and are esp. useful for disinfecting the skin, e.g. for skin disinfection before surgery.
