Abstract

The cathode-ray tube has a magnetic lens of constant field strength to focus the electron beam, and an electrostatic lens to alter the beam energy such that changes in focussing due to variations in the magnetic lens field are compensated. The electrostatic lens consists of two acially separated electrodes (7, 8). The first electrode (7) is at the same potential as the accelerating electrodes (6) on the other side of the X-Y deflection plates, and the second electrode (8) is located inside the magnetic coil on the oppsoite side of the latter centre plane (14) away from the screen.
