Werkwijze en systeem voor toegangverkrijging ACHTERGROND VAN DE UITVINDINGBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Method and system for obtaining access
The invention relates to a method and system 5 for registering a user with a server of a network. Before you can access a server - for example an internet server for a paid service - you have to register a username and password. The username and password are then used as a means of reliably exploiting services provided by a server.
In these procedures, the user usually has to provide a number of personal data, such as name and address and, for payment processing, for example, a credit card number. In addition, membership is often required to access the server. These procedures have the disadvantage that privacy-sensitive information is requested from the user, transported over the network and stored in the server.
opgeslagen. The transfer of credit card information is particularly susceptible to fraud. Moreover, not every user is in possession of a credit card. This limits the group of users. Due to the relatively large number of data to be entered, the user may become impatient and prematurely abandon the login attempt, thereby impeding "impulse usage." SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The object of the invention is to obviate the above-mentioned drawbacks.
To this end, the invention provides a method for registering a user with a server connected to the network, wherein the server asks the user for his telephone number and his zip code. The server then checks whether the specified subscriber number 5 corresponds to the specified postcode. In addition, a dial-up server, through which the user reaches the network, checks whether the user is indeed using the specified subscriber number. Then, if all this is approved, a password is sent to the 10 user, allowing access to the server connected to the network, possibly for a limited time. Billing information can be sent through the dial-up server to the telephone operator's billing system, thereby adding the bill for the use of the server to the user's telephone bill.
The exchange of personal and credit card data is made superfluous in the manner proposed by the invention. Fraud-proofing of payment transactions 20 is greatly increased by the fact that no credit card data is transferred. The privacy of the user is also fully guaranteed. The access process can be completed quickly, so that impulse purchases are not hindered.
25 UITVOERINGSVOORBEELD25 IMPLEMENTATION EXAMPLE
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to a figure, which represents an exemplary embodiment. Figure 1 is a diagram schematically showing the method according to the invention. A user connects a terminal 1 via a telephone network 2 to M 0 10720 -3 mode with a dial-up server (ISP) connected to the Internet 5. Via the dial-up server 3, the user connects to the network server to be consulted 4. The network server 4 contains commercial information, such as, for example, 5 product information, images, news reports, weather reports, games, trade information. A financial compensation is requested for consulting or utilizing this. The network server 4 asks the user whether he wishes to access the server by means of a password. The user is now asked to enter the subscriber number by means of which he is connected to the dial-up server 3, and his zip code. The network server 4 asks the user for the desired period of validity. The network server 4 checks - by means of a telephone number / postal code database incorporated in the server 4 with a concordance system - whether the subscriber number and postal code correspond. If this is the case, the network server 4 creates a password and sends it together with the subscriber number specified by the user to the dial-up server 3. In the dial-up server 3, it is checked by means of a number recognition service of the telephone network 4 whether the user the subscriber number provided and the telephone number by which the user maintains a dial-up connection to the network correspond. If this is the case, the password is passed to the user on terminal 1, who thereby accesses the network server 4. The user's billing information can be stored in the dial-up server 3 or passed directly to the P1 0107 20 -4- a billing server 6 of the telephone network 2, where the telephone notes are made. The user thus pays for the information, products or services requested from the network server 4 via his telephone bill.
