THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MULTI-CHANNEL HANDOFF IN A PERSONAL AREA NETWORK. THIS INVENTION PRESENTS A SOLUTION FOR MOBILE NODE (120) TO GET ASSOCIATED WITH A GATEWAY (110B) THAT OPERATES ON DIFFERENT CHANNEL THAN THE MOBILE NODE'S HOME NETWORK (110A). THE MOBILE NODE (120) CONSTANTLY CHECKS THE SIGNAL STRENGTH OF THE GATEWAY (110A) THAT IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH AND COLLECTS CHANNEL INFORMATION FROM OTHER NEW GATEWAYS (110B). MOBILE NODE (120) DISASSOCIATES WITH THE CURRENT GATEWAY (110A) WHEN ITS RSSI VALUE DROPPED BELOW THE PREDEFINED THRESHOLD AND ASSOCIATE WITH NEW GATEWAY (110B) BASED ON THE GATEWAY PRIORITY SET IN ITS GATEWAY INFORMATION LIST (123).
