Abstract

IN THE CASE OF A RADIO STATION HAVING A REMOTE ANTENNA UNIT AND TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING UNIT, TRANSMITTEDAND RECEIVED SIGNALS ARE ISOLATED AND, IF NECESSARY, AMPLIFIED CLOSE TO THE ANTENNA, IN THE ANTENNA UNIT, WITH THE AID OF A DUPLEXER. THIS MAKES POSSIBLE AN ECONOMIC IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RADIO STATION BY MEANS OF MATCHED FURTHER PROCESSING OF THE TRANSMITTED AND RECEIVED SIGNALS, WITH A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF SPACE BEING OCCUPIED, BY MEANS OF A COMBINED TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING ANTENNA. THE RADIO STATION ACCORDING TO THE INVENTION IS SUITABLE IN PARTICULAR FOR BASE STATIONS IN GSM MOBILE RADIO NETWORKS AND, FOR THIS PURPOSE, OPENS UP A LARGE AMOUNT OF DESIGN FREEDOM BETWEEN HIGH SYSTEM PERFORMANCE AND ECONOMIC IMPLEMENTATION OF THE BASE STATION.(FIGURE 2)
