Abstract
The present invention is a cost effective wall mounting apparatus for a visual display. The wall mounting apparatus comprises two interlocking plates that are configured to mount the visual display to a wall such that the bracketry provides a gap between the wall and the visual display of less than about 2 inches. One of the plates is designed to be attached to the wall, while the other is affixed to the back of the visual display. The visual display is mounted to the wall by hooking the two plates together, such that the two interlocking plates contact each other in at least two places along the surfaces thereof.

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED REQUESTS
This application claims the benefit of the Patent Application
Provisional of E.U.A. Series No. 60 / 498,264, entitled "Visual Display Wall Mounting Apparatus" and presented on August 26, 2003, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is directed to visual presentations and, in particular, to visual presentation wall mounting brackets.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The visual presentation wall mounting brackets on the market are expensive, very heavy and uncomfortable to use. They do not allow the customer to mount a thin television screen (or monitor) on the wall with less than approximately 5.08 cm of free space between the unit and the wall. Most, if not all, of the existing wall mount brackets require the customer to make some final set of adjustments to lock them once the group of visual display mounting brackets and the group of wall mounting brackets are joined together. . This locking feature must be activated in order that the group does not fall or take off from the wall. Also, some groups of wall mounting brackets are made of welded sub-assemblies, which are difficult to construct and costly. In addition, some have multiple pieces that the client has to sub-assemble at the correct size before joining the visual presentation (or monitor).
COMPENDIUM OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is a cost-effective wall mounting apparatus for a display or screen. The wall mounting apparatus comprises two interbonding plates which are configured to mount the visual presentation to a wall, so that the group of brackets provides a gap between the wall and the visual presentation of less than 5.08 cm. One of the plates is designed to be attached to the wall, while the other is fixed to the back of the visual presentation. The visual presentation is mounted to the wall by hooking the two plates together, so that the two interbonding plates contact each other in at least two places along their surfaces.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The invention hereinafter is described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figures 1A-1D illustrate cross-sectional views of an embodiment of the interbiochemistry brackets of the present invention, showing a visual presentation being assembled to a wall; Figures 2A-2D illustrate cross-sectional views of an alternative embodiment of the interbiochemistry brackets of the present invention, showing the visual presentation being mounted to the wall; Figures 3A-3D illustrate cross-sectional views of an alternative embodiment of the interbiochemistry brackets of the present invention, showing a visual display being mounted to a wall; Figures 4A-4D illustrate cross-sectional views of an alternative embodiment of the interbiochemistry brackets of the present invention, showing a visual display being mounted to a wall; Figures 5A-5D illustrate cross-sectional views of an alternative embodiment of the interbiochelon brackets of the present invention, showing a visual display being mounted to a wall; Figures 6A-6D illustrate cross-sectional views of an alternative embodiment of the interbiochemistry brackets of the present invention, showing a visual display being mounted to a wall; Figures 7A-7D illustrate front, back and side views of the interlocking brackets of the present invention; and Figure 8 illustrates an enlarged view of a portion of the interlocked brackets shown in Figure 7B.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The present invention is a cost-effective wall mounting apparatus for a visual presentation. The wall mounting apparatus comprises at least two interlock plates which are configured to mount the visual presentation to a wall, so that the group or set of corbels provides a gap between the wall and the visual presentation of less than 5.08 cm. One of the plates is designed to be attached to the wall, while the other is fixed to the back of the visual presentation. The visual presentation is mounted to the wall by engaging the two plates together, so that the two interlocking plates contact each other in at least two places along their surfaces. The interlocking plates must be formed of a material, such as, for example, metal (steel, aluminum (AI)) or plastic, with sufficient strength to withstand a load of up to about 90.8 kilograms without deformation. The interbonding plates can be made using any suitable method such as, for example, sheet metal forming, roll forming, die casting and extrusion, among others. Referring to FIGS. 1A-1D, interblock plates can be made of two patterned metal sheet parts. An interbonding plate 2 is designed to be mounted to the rear portion of the display (television) and the other interbonding plate 4 is designed to be mounted to the wall (Figure 1A). The interbonding plate 2 includes a portion 8, which extends a fixed distance away from the rear of the display, together with a portion 7 of the interbonding plate 4 which also extends a fixed distance away from the wall, defines an air gap between the presentation and the wall of less than about 5.08 cm when the interbonding plate 2 is bonded to the interbonding plate 4. The portions 7, 8 may have the same length or different lengths. The interbonding plate 2 also includes a hook portion 10 which contacts an area of a surface of the portion 7 of the interbonding plate 4 when the interbonding plate 2 is attached to the interbonding plate 4 (Figure 1D). The interbonding plate 4 also includes a hook portion 9 that contacts an area of a surface of the portion 8 of the interbonding plate 2 when the interbonding plate 2 is attached to the interbonding plate 4 (Figure 1 D) . To mount the visual presentation to the wall, the interlock plate 2 is placed against the interlocking plate 4 (Figure 1B). By gradually releasing the weight of the visual display attached to the interlock plate 2 (Figure 1C) and allowing the gravity to pass, the interlock plate 2 is seated on the interlock plate 4 (Figure 1D) while maintaining the visual presentation at a fixed distance from the wall. The visual presentation is mounted to the wall by engaging the two interlocking plates 2, 4 together, so that the two interlocking plates 2, 4 contact each other in at least two places along their surfaces (for example). example, in Figure 1D, the engaging portion 10 of the interlocking plate 2 contacts an area of the surface of the portion 7 and the engaging portion 9 makes contact with the surface of the portion 8). The generous free entry spaces for the coupling portions 9, 10 facilitates interlocking of the two plates 2,4 together. The interlock plates 2, 4 allow the display to rotate until the lower edge of the presentation hits the wall. This feature suits those who want a small amount of low angle for its presentation. For those who wish to place the presentation parallel to the wall, dampers can be placed, approximately the same thickness as the space gap between the presentation and the wall, between the visual presentation and the wall at or near the bottom of the presentation . For the embodiment illustrated in Figures 1A-1D, the portion 7 of the interlock plate 4 is planar, extending perpendicularly away from the wall. Alternatively, the interlock plate 4 may include an angled portion extending away from the wall and the flat portion extending away from the angled portion (Figures 3A-3D). The interlock plate 4 can alternatively also include a flat portion, an angled portion and a rear stop portion (Figures 2A-2D). Referring to Figures 4A-4D, 5A-5D and 6A-6D, interlock plates 2, 4 can alternatively be configured to include elongated sections 15, 20, along which the 2,4 plates can also be attached to the visual monitor and wall, respectively. Referring to Figures 7A-7D, front, back and side views of the interlock plates are shown. As shown, plate 2 may be longer in length than plate 4 to allow a collateral adjustment for visual presentation. In addition, with reference to Figure 8, end detents 30 on the plate 20 prevent the display from sliding out of the bracket collaterally. In addition, although the descriptions shown only illustrate a group of brackets used to fix the visual presentation to the wall, it is contemplated that more than one group may also be used.
