Abstract

In a method and apparatus to control a signal decoder operation in a transmission system, a transmission signal and a coded identification signal are generated, and the identification signal is added to the signal; the signal together with the identification signal is transmitted over and is received in the decoder, wherein the identification signal is decoded and compared with a checking value; if there is a match, a decoder additional operation is allowed; if there is not a match, a decoder additional operation is rejected.
