Abstract
A method, switch, and controller for implementing ARP. The method comprises: a switch receives an ARP packet; the switch transmits an information submission message containing the ARP packet to a controller; and, the switch implements ARP on the basis of a MAC address contained in an information issuance message transmitted by the controller, where the information issuance message is a message transmitted by the controller on the basis of the information submission message. With application of embodiments of the present invention, although a switch in an SDN network is provided without capability for supporting the ARP, the switch is allowed, by submitting an ARP packet to a controller, to implement ARP exchanges with an external device with assistance of the controller, thus increasing the data transmission capacity of the SDN network.
