Description

Method and device for providing cloud-based IPTV service {METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING IPTV SERVICE BASED ON CLOUD}

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for providing a cloud-based IPTV service, and more particularly, to a method and apparatus for providing an additional service on a cloud basis.

Internet Protocol Television (hereinafter referred to as IPTV) service is a converged communication / broadcasting service, which provides channel broadcasting, music, video contents, and interactive data from the headend to the Internet through a set-top box. The service provided by the subscriber terminal. Therefore, the subscriber station can be provided with various contents and additional services provided by the Internet through the set-top box. In this case, the set-top box overlays the additional service on the screen on which the content is being played and provides it to the subscriber terminal or through a window separate from the content.

That is, when the set-top box receives an MPEG (Motion Picture Expert Group) -2 transport stream (TS) packet from the IPTV headend, the set-top box is associated with additional service and audio and video information corresponding to channel broadcasting from the MPEG-2 TS packet. The information is extracted, the audio information and the video information are decoded, respectively, and output to the subscriber station. The additional service related information is processed and synthesized into the decoded video information and output to the subscriber station.

As such, in order to provide the additional service to the subscriber station together with the channel broadcast, a separate middleware is required for processing the additional service related information in the set-top box. Therefore, the cost of the set-top box increases and there is a limit to the miniaturization of the set-top box. In particular, because the set-top box is installed in the house, if the cost increases, it will adversely affect the activation of the IPTV service.

In addition, since additional service developers also need to develop additional services to meet the specifications of various set-top boxes, the set-top box has a significant limitation on the development of new additional services. In order to receive new supplementary service information, a service subscriber may sometimes have to download an application program required for the set-top box.

The technical problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a cloud-based IPTV service providing method and apparatus that can simplify the set-top box while the developer can develop additional services without restrictions according to the specifications of the set-top box.

According to an embodiment of the present invention, a cloud server for providing an IPTV service to a subscriber terminal is provided. The cloud server includes a receiver, an additional service information processor, a capture unit, and a transmission controller. The receiver receives a transport stream frame including information related to an additional service and channel broadcast information from a headend, and extracts information related to the additional service. The additional service information processor is configured to display information related to the extracted additional service on a screen. The capture unit captures screen information related to an additional service to be displayed on the screen. The transmission control unit transmits the captured additional service related screen information to a set top box. In this case, the captured additional service-related screen information is provided to the subscriber station by being overlaid on the channel broadcast information in the set top box.

The cloud server may further include a user input processing unit, and the user input processing unit may process or transmit the user input information received through the set top box to the headend.

The transmission control unit may transmit the captured additional service related screen information to the set top box through a transmission channel.

According to another embodiment of the present invention, a set top box for providing an IPTV service to a subscriber station is provided. The set top box includes a receiver, a video decoder, a transmission controller, and a synthesizer. The receiver receives a transport stream frame including additional service related information and channel broadcast information from a headend, and extracts the channel broadcast information. The video decoder decodes the video information of the channel broadcast information and transmits it to the subscriber station. The transport channel unit receives screen information related to the captured additional service from a cloud server that receives and processes the additional service related information. The synthesizer overlays screen information related to the captured additional service on the decoded video information and transmits the screen information to the subscriber station.

The set top box may further include a user input processor, and the user input processor may process input information received from the user through the set top box or transmit the input information to the cloud server through the transmission controller.

Screen information related to the captured additional service may be received as a message through a transmission channel.

According to another embodiment of the present invention, a method for providing an IPTV service to a subscriber station in an IPTV service providing system is provided. The method for providing an IPTV service includes receiving a transport stream frame including additional service related information and channel broadcast information from a headend in a cloud server and a set-top box, respectively, and extracting the additional service related information from the transport stream frame in the cloud server. Extracting the channel broadcast information from the transport stream frame in the set top box; processing the additional service related information in the cloud server to capture screen information related to the additional service; captured by the cloud server Transmitting additional service-related screen information to the set-top box, and outputting the channel broadcast information and the captured additional service-related screen information to a subscriber terminal in the set-top box.

The outputting to the subscriber station may include extracting video information from the channel broadcast information, decoding the video information, and overlaying the screen additional service information on the decoded video information and outputting it to the subscriber terminal. It may include a step.

The IPTV service providing method may further include receiving input information from a user at the set top box or transmitting the input information to the cloud server, and processing the input information at the cloud server or transmitting the input information to the headend. have.

According to an embodiment of the present invention, the cloud server processes the information related to the additional service and the set-top box processes the channel broadcasting information as before, thereby simplifying the function of the set-top box and simultaneously limiting the capability and performance of the set-top box. It is possible to develop various additional services that were not developed by the company. In addition, regardless of the specifications of the set-top box, all subscribers can easily receive additional service information.

The additional service information processing unit 220 processes the additional service related information to be displayed on the screen by decoding and executing the additional service related information (S430).

The capturer 230 captures screen information related to the additional service to be displayed on the screen (S440), and the transmission controller 240 transmits the captured additional service related screen information to the set-top box 310 through the Internet network 400. Transmit (S450).

5 is a diagram illustrating a method of providing an IPTV service in a set top box according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

Referring to FIG. 5, when the receiver 311 receives an MPEG-2 TS frame from the headend 100 (S510), audio information and video information corresponding to channel broadcast are extracted from the MPEG-2 TS frame (S520). ).

The audio decoder 312 decodes the extracted audio information and outputs it to the subscriber station 320 (S530). Then, the decoded audio information is output through the speaker of the subscriber station 320. In addition, the video decoder 313 decodes the video information and outputs it to the subscriber station 320 (S540). Then, the decoded video information is output through the screen of the subscriber station 320.

On the other hand, the transmission control unit 314 receives the additional service-related screen information captured from the cloud server 200 (S550).

When receiving the additional service-related screen information captured from the cloud server 200, the synthesis unit 315 overlays the captured additional service-related screen information on the decoded video information and outputs it to the subscriber station 320 (S560 ~). S570). Then, the captured additional service related screen information is overlaid on the decoded video information and output through the screen of the subscriber station 320.

It may be. This has the advantage of further simplifying the set top box 310.

On the other hand, in order to overlay the additional service-related screen information captured by the cloud server 200, the cloud server 200 needs an audio decoder and a video decoder for decoding audio information and video information corresponding to channel broadcasting, respectively. There is a need for a synthesizer that overlays the captured additional service related screen information on the decoded video information. In addition, since the cloud server 200 needs to encode the decoded audio information and the video information overlaid on the captured screen additional service information, respectively, and transmit the encoded video information to the set-top box 310, the cloud server 200 further needs an audio encoder and a video encoder. Therefore, the load of the cloud server 200 is increased, which reduces the number of set-top boxes 310 that can be accommodated at the same time.

However, as described in the embodiment of the present invention, if the cloud server 200 processes additional service related information of the IPTV service, and the set-top box 310 processes audio information and video information corresponding to channel broadcasting, the cloud server ( The load of 200 may be appropriately reduced, and accordingly, the number of set-top boxes 310 that can be accommodated at the same time may be increased. In addition, the function of the set-top box 310 can be simplified compared to the existing IPTV service providing system, thereby reducing the cost of the set-top box 310.

Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described in detail above, the scope of the present invention is not limited thereto, and various modifications and improvements of those skilled in the art using the basic concepts of the present invention defined in the following claims are also provided. It belongs to the scope of rights.
