Description

Wireless connection between mobile device and wireless headset {Method for wireless connection between Mobile station and Wireless Headset}

The present invention relates to a method in which the wireless headset and the portable terminal are automatically wirelessly connected when the wireless headset is detached from the portable terminal.

Recently, in the wireless communication and computer industries, various technologies related to wireless communication have been developed and implemented as low cost, low power wireless devices or wireless links have become a big concern. Among the various studies on this, professional code, namely Bluetooth, was defined by Ericsson. Bluetooth is a wireless communication method based on short-range radio technology that operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. Devices capable of Bluetooth communication can transmit voice and data to each other at speeds of up to 1Mbps over a 10m radius. In addition, the Bluetooth module has the advantage of very low power consumption. Accordingly, various products equipped with a Bluetooth module have been released, and cell phone wireless headsets are in the spotlight.

In order to perform Bluetooth wireless communication, a user must first purchase a device capable of Bluetooth communication and then perform a pairing process. After the pairing process, the Bluetooth devices in the Bluetooth communication distance are inquired and then a specific device is called to perform wireless communication. However, for the Bluetooth connection, the user has to manually set the pairing, inquiry, and calling steps by using a shortcut key or a menu of the terminal, which is inconvenient.

Accordingly, there is a need to provide a wireless headset detachable to a portable terminal without having to separately purchase or carry the portable terminal and the wireless headset. Furthermore, there is a need for a method of automatically establishing a wireless connection when the wireless headset is detached from the portable terminal.

The present invention inserts a detachable wireless headset into a terminal instead of a built-in speaker, and allows the portable terminal and the wireless headset to be wirelessly connected at the same time as the wireless headset is detached from the terminal. Preferably, when a call is being received, the wireless headset automatically connects to the call mode when it is detached from the terminal, and when the wireless headset is combined with the mobile terminal, the wireless connection is automatically turned off.

In order to achieve the above object, the portable terminal may include a controller, a Bluetooth unit, a sensor unit, a headset interface unit, an audio processor, a power supply unit. The wireless headset according to the present invention functions as a speaker of the portable terminal when combined with the portable terminal, and as a wireless earphone when separated from the portable terminal.

 When using the portable terminal and the wireless headset of the invention, there is no need to purchase the portable terminal and the wireless headset separately. When the wireless headset is detached from the mobile terminal, a wireless connection is automatically established with each other, and the wireless headset operates as a wireless earphone. On the other hand, when the wireless headset and the portable terminal are combined, the wireless connection is automatically turned off and the wireless headset operates as a speaker of the portable terminal. Preferably, the portable terminal can reduce unnecessary current consumption during standby time when the wireless headset is not used by supplying power to the wireless headset when the wireless headset is coupled.
