Abstract

A method and a system for managing materials are provided to simplify a material supply/demand procedure by checking stock of the materials kept in other departments in a company and requesting other departments to return the materials. A material management server(10) includes a database(11) storing supply/demand information of each material and a material manager(13) providing/processing the needed information according to a request of a user terminal(30) connected to the network(20). The material manager searches data for current stock state and supply/demand states of the materials from the database by each department, provides the searched data to the user terminal, and stores the data for the supply/demand state received from the user terminal to the database. The user terminal processes a material return request received from the user terminal and stores a result to the database. The user terminal includes a program for linking the data with the material manager.
