A mobile terminal equipped with a message editing function and an editing method thereof are provided to edit/store important message contents in the mobile terminal by editing the message and facilitate repeated input by copying and pasting the edited message. A user interface program(102) displays, stores, and edits a short message. An input part is set by the user interface program and provides a function needed for editing the short message. A management program(110) stores the short message edited by the input part. The user interface program provides an editing tool including a copy, paste, cut, and sentence select function. A temporary storing part(116) temporary stores the selected sentence when the short message is edited. The input part is a keypad(106) or a touchpad having an editing function.
