Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for providing images of a PVR(Personal Video Recorder) is provided to allow the PVR to provide contents of a PC-based network multimedia database as well as digital television ground wave broadcasting signals by connecting the PVR to a PC using a wireless Ethernet adapter. CONSTITUTION: A PVR initializes devices and receives digital TV ground waves through a network interface module(22). A PC executes an initialization program for the devices including a wireless Ethernet adapter, and then automatically executes transcoder demon(24). The transcoder demon automatically constructs an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) database(26). When the PVR requests the PC to authenticates the PVT, the PC accepts the request and transmits the result to the PVR(28). When the PC authenticates the PVR, the PVR requests the PC to provide program EPG information for the PVR(30). The PC transmits the EPG information to the PVR at the request of the PVR(32). The PVR combines EPG of its own and the received EPG information(34). The PVR displays a program selected by a user when the program exists on the PVR(36).
