Abstract

PURPOSE: A method of tuning a channel of a digital TV is provided to automatically switch to a minor channel tuning mode while a major channel is tuned and sequentially tune minor channels according to a direction key inputted by a user. CONSTITUTION: A major channel number requested is recognized on the basis of a numeral key signal inputted through a remote control(S4), and then an analog channel is tuned. When the last numeral key of the numeral key signal is pushed for a predetermined period of time or longer(S8), it is judged that the current mode is not a major channel number input mode(S9) and the digital channel of the numbers inputted up to now is tuned to obtain a digital channel information table. A minor channel number contained in the corresponding major channel is decoded and stored in a memory. The first minor channel and broadcasting channel information are displayed using decoding information, and video information of the corresponding minor channel is digital-signal-processed to be displayed on a screen.
