The present invention relates to a mobile communication terminal, and more particularly, to an apparatus and method for automatically switching communication modes according to call quality.
In general, VoIP is an IP telephony technology that delivers voice information using the Internet Protocol (IP) .It is not a traditional protocol based on a line such as a public switched telephone network (PSTN), but voice information in discrete packets. It is a protocol to make a phone call while inserting and transmitting a digital signal.
VoIP devices that make phone calls using VoIP acquire session information between both ends of VoIP devices through VoIP signaling, and are compressed through IP packets according to a predetermined address, channel, and voice codec scheme. In addition to the original IP function, it uses the Realtime Transport Protocol (RTP) to ensure that packets arrive at the correct time.
These VoIP devices have the advantage of integrating telephone service by utilizing existing IP network as it is, so that subscribers can receive long distance service and international call service with only local call rate in internet and intranet environment. Therefore, using the Internet to deliver real-time voice information is more economical than using a conventional telephone network, and the voice using the IP network because the Internet is widely available and can be conveniently used anywhere. Delivery techniques and devices are constantly being developed.
However, in the case of the VoIP, unlike a user who merely delivers voice, the more users who deliver voice, data, and multimedia, the more the load on the network is inevitably increased. In the case of simple large data, if there is a priority in the network so that it can be delivered even if the time is delayed, there is no big problem in the service, but in the case of a video call or a voice call using the VoIP, the conversation is frequently dropped or too delayed. In this case, there is a problem that the service itself cannot be performed because the meaning of actual use is lost.

2 is a flowchart illustrating a method of automatically switching a communication mode according to call quality in a mobile communication terminal according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 2, in
In
If the measured QoS is not less than or equal to the reference value, the
Thereafter, the
When the QoS is successfully improved, the
In this case, the communication mode may be automatically switched as described above. However, in
In this case, the communication mode may be switched to a mode in which the user can continuously talk with the other party while maintaining the bidirectional communication mode. For example, it is possible to switch from the video call mode to the voice-oriented call mode according to the QoS, or to the instant message (IM) mode where there is no problem in the conversation even if there is a delay in the voice-oriented call mode. You may.
In addition, the communication mode may be switched from the bidirectional communication mode to the unidirectional mode. For example, the user may record and store a voice and a picture that the user intends to deliver, and may transmit the stored voice and a picture to a desired party. The text may be transmitted through a short message service (hereinafter, referred to as SMS). You can also pass in (text). An example of the one-way mode for transmitting the stored voice is Push to Talk (PTT), and the push-to-talk is a mode in which a user presses when delivering a speech and releases when talking. In addition, an example of the one-way mode for transmitting the voice as text includes a speech to text (STT), and the speech text conversion is performed by changing the speech to text and transmitting the text through SMS. Mode.
On the other hand, by adding a certain sequence to the switching of the communication mode, it is possible to switch from video call mode to voice-oriented call mode, voice-oriented call mode to instant message mode, and from instant message mode to SMS according to the QoS. . Here, if the QoS is improved, it may be improved back to the previous mode. In other words, the SMS may be switched to an instant message mode, the instant message mode to a voice-oriented call mode, and the voice-oriented call mode to a video call mode.
