Abstract
The present invention relates to a hole-forming structure of a stress concentration portion used in a container or package for a fluid product that allows a limited bonsai of the fluid product with one hand. The stress concentrator comprises a substantially flat relatively rigid sheet, one or more long, thin, generally channel shaped protrusions, and a break across the one or more protrusions. Packaged pouches containing fluent products may also be attached to the stress concentration. Breaking of the stress-concentrating protrusion member across the break line forms a hole-forming pattern that expands to form a large hole under pressure on the container or package.
An alternative embodiment of the invention is to implement breakable stress concentrations on containers or dispensers used in a wide variety of liquid products. Another embodiment is to implement a stress concentration inside a pouch having a slit opening, wherein at break of the stress concentration the flowable product flows through the stress concentration and the slit opening.

(Background and Purpose of the Invention)
(Field of the Invention)
The present invention relates to dispenser packages for flowable products and other similar products, and more precisely to hole-forming members for containers and dispenser packages containing and dispensing disposable containers and packages and large quantities of flowable products which are particularly advantageously applied. A newly improved shape and structure of the stress concentration section of the furnace.
(Description of the prior art)
Various attempts have been made so far to provide a dispenser package in which the flowable product can be packaged in a quantity normally required for one time use and the flowable material can be dispensed.
One type of package is a pillow-shaped pouch or sachet, which is generally made of a relatively thin plastic / and foil or a combination of laminated plastic and foil. These packages are very frequently seen as containers for ketchup, mustard, other seasonings, household paints such as hair conditioners, creams and the like. Although this type of packaging is widely used, consumers generally dislike this type. To use the contents, the pouch is held by one hand while tearing and force is applied by the other hand. It is very difficult to tear early in order to tear off the seal. Moreover, once initially torn, the laminated foil and / or plastic material will not only be torn in an unrestricted shape, but the support pressure exerted by one of the user's hands is not only before the user is ready to spill the contents, but also before the tearing is finished. Even the contents are forced out of the package. In general, it is very difficult to tear, so the pouch will be opened by biting the king. Opening such a package is annoying and can lead to broken nails and missing teeth, which is pointed out as one of many problems. A further disadvantage is that the user must use both hands to open the container. It is virtually impossible to open these packages in the case of the sick, arthritis patients, and others with disabilities.
Another package is a thin lid cup used for butter, margarine, syrup, source, salad dressing, and the like. This package also requires good vision, flexible handwork, and both hands to open. Similar packaging for coffee cream containers and other similar products is subject to the same difficulties as listed above for pouches and sachets. Indeed, many people cannot open this package.
Another type of package is a corrugated package of unopened paper used for salt and / or pepper, which is bent along a cut along a line across the corrugated portion to produce salt or other solid material contained within the corrugated portion. Form a hole to flow. This salt package is conventionally equipped with a polystyrene liner that does not rupture or collapse as in the present invention. Also, these packages can only dispense dry solid flowable materials with the aid of gravity and cannot "damp" or disperse liquid flowable materials properly, and use hydraulic or compressive forces to drain stored liquid out of the container. It can't even contain fluids.
Redmond-owned U.S. Patent No. 3,986,640 (hereinafter referred to as the '640 Patent) is a one-handed operation in which the dispenser package does not represent a prior opening difficulty associated with opening by removing the cover or tearing the packaging or pouch. Disclosed is a dispenser package that exhibits a marked improvement in the difficulty of opening the above-mentioned conventional package structure in achieving an effective treatment of the contents of. According to the '640 patent, the flowable product is contained in a pouch formed of a flexible sheet material and a relatively hard sheet material, which has a predetermined breaking line or cut pattern in which the hard material is inscribed. The fracture will occur on the fracture line when stress is applied to the material sheet. By bending the above sheet into the "V" shape, the breaking line or cutting pattern located at each vertex formed by the "V" shape both sides is broken, and as both sides touch together, the fluid material is relatively hard both sides of the "V" shape. At least one opening is pushed out of the flexible pouch. Advantageously, it is satisfactory to effectively handle the contained product by opening it with one hand.
Redmond et al., US Pat. No. 4,493,574 (hereinafter referred to as '574), disclose a dispenser package similar to that of the Redmond' 640 patent, but at least displaces at least a portion of the fracture line or fracture pattern out of the plane of a relatively rigid member. It includes using one stress concentration protrusion. The preferred embodiment of the disclosed protruding member has a substantially pyramid shape that displaces the fracture across the advantage and is substantially symmetrical about the fracture line. The purpose of the stress-intensive projecting member is to bend to a "V" shape to concentrate the stress on the fracture line, causing the protrusion to rupture at the trajectory of the fracture line and to create an opening through which the fluid product is dispensed.
The structures of the '640 and' 574 patents have been commercially successful and will continue to be commercially successful in the future. However, it is known in the disclosed package form that, depending on the particular flowable material packaged, applying bending pressure allows a small amount of the packaged material to eject or “bubble” out of the instantaneous opening of the fracture line. Redmond's U.S. Patent No. 4,611,715 (hereinafter referred to as the '715 patent) has substantially reduced this potential eruption problem by having a shallow channel immediately after the break line connected to two spaced pockets on either side of the break line. .
Redmond's U.S. Patent No. 4,724,928 (hereinafter referred to as the '982 Patent) also discloses a dispenser package structure similar to the other Redmond name's patents described above, and additionally simultaneously displays two different products from an isolated chamber. It is disclosed to use at least one asymmetric pyramidal shaped stress concentration which is particularly advantageous when dispensing is desired.
Although the dispenser package offers many advantages over conventional packaging systems, the package has some disadvantages. Although preferred by consumers because it is superior to conventional pouch type packages, the above packages will cost more than conventional pouch packages due to various rigidity, necessity of impermeable film, and material cost. Pyramid-shaped stress concentrating members formed thereon protrude outwards from the surface of the sealed dispenser package and, in rare cases, may be packaged to prevent minor dispensing packages from being deformed or damaged by circumference that may even open before use. Further consideration was needed in laminating and transporting.

The present invention resides in new parts, configurations, arrangements, combinations and improvements shown and described herein.
(Summary of invention)
In short, the present invention may be mounted or integrally formed on a container or other dispenser package for a fluent product, and may also be opened by one hand as a means of causing limited rupture of the package material and smooth distribution of the contents. A new and improved stress concentration hole forming structure is provided.
Materials that allow limited fracture in the stress concentration of the present invention range from inexpensive, easily fractured materials such as polystyrene to materials such as metal foils, polyesters, EVOH, polypropylene, polyethylene, Barex or nylon. It also includes tough, impermeable membrane web materials such as composite injection molded articles or single sheets made of sheet metal. This stress concentration can provide improved double or multiple multiple chamber packages as well as reduce the cost of the packaging material. Further cost reduction is realized by reducing the size or thickness of the packaging material.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the dispenser package is relatively rigid to form a large rigid flat sheet with a relatively high quality impermeable membrane layer adhered to at least one surface thereof, a closed pouch adjacent to the relatively rigid side. Flexible sheets fixed to one surface of the sheet, cut patterns or break lines or breaks formed or broken along generally transverse centerlines in relatively hard sheets, and broken lines or breaks of relatively hard sheets And at least one or preferably two or more adjacently parallel, stress-bearing hole-forming protrusions for displacing at least a portion of the pattern therein, preferably each of the protrusions being long and thinly expandable during fracture. It consists of channel shape.
Advantageously, the preferred long channel shape is located substantially perpendicular to the break line, and several stress concentrations can preferably be used parallel and adjacent to each other, thereby facilitating breakage of the container and furthermore storing the material stored therein. An expandable pattern is formed during break to facilitate dispensing. In a preferred embodiment this channel-shaped cross section has a rounded bottom and pointed or rounded vertices.
In a still more preferred embodiment the break line crosses only some stress concentrating members of the channel shape. Thus, for example, an internal stress directing channel acting as a breaking member is crossed or broken by the breaking line, and an external stress concentration channel that is not broken or broken by the breaking line is used during transportation and storage of the dispenser package. It acts as a reinforcement or protective channel to prevent inadvertent opening of the breaking member.
Incidentally, the external channel has a significant influence on the power that controls the way the package is opened. Also preferably implemented, the stress concentration pattern of the long channel is concave below the plane of the relatively rigid sheet surface, further reinforcing the thin outer surface of the relatively rigid sheet and the dispenser package in the "wrong" direction, i.e. normally open. It further prevents inadvertent opening when pressed or bent in the opposite direction.
According to another embodiment of the present invention, at least two chambers that are closely adjacent and separated and enclosed, each chamber having one side facing a relatively rigid flat sheet, located above and relatively rigid on a closed chamber A double or multiple dispenser package is provided that includes at least one stress concentration aperture forming protrusion capable of displacing at least this portion of a break line or break pattern of a flat sheet plane away from its coalesced packaging chamber.
Each stress concentration hole forming member preferably extends along the length of a flat sheet that is perpendicular to the break line and is also relatively rigid.
The multiple chamber arrangements of the latter embodiment can accommodate at least two flowable materials that are each isolated and separated prior to use, but are formed by failure of the channel-shaped stress concentrator member when the package is bent into a “V” shape. It will be appreciated from the above that it has a dispenser package which is always opened and dispensed simultaneously from the two separate openings. Advantageously, it is also preferred that a plurality of said stress concentration hole forming members are positioned in a parallel and closely faced relationship and aligned in a straight line. Such double or multichamber packages may be configured to be distributed in two closely spaced flows that can be contacted to allow fluid materials contained and separated upon breakage of the channel-shaped stress concentration member to be easily contacted with each other.
The term "breaking line" or "breaking pattern" as used herein is weakened rather than by the alternative cut pattern, a single straight line or a continuous breaking line extending across a portion of the entire relatively rigid flat sheet. It is meant to include a fracture site formed by the means.
It is apparent from the above description that the objects of the invention of the invention specifically listed herein can be achieved by the invention as practiced here.
Therefore, according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a dispenser package composed of a high strength, high quality impermeable film material is opened by the breakage of a plurality of parallel long and thin stress concentrated channel shape members, and the breakage of the pattern of the channel shape members. The holes formed in the seam may be expanded, and such hole forming structures are thinner than those used to make conventional dispenser packages with one or more stress-concentrating protrusions projecting outward as exemplified in the Redmond patent. The use of thicker materials makes them more economical.
In another preferred embodiment of the present invention the stress concentrating hole forming means is used to provide similar means using flowable products stored in all multipurpose packagings. Thus, as practiced here, the stress concentration hole forming structure is formed in a sheet of relatively hard thin material and properly sealed and mounted on openings provided in conventional container walls for things such as milk, juice, oil, and the like. do.
The stress concentrating hole forming structure of the present invention is also broken not only by bending stress but also by internal pressure. Thus, for example, squeezing the milk container causes the stress concentration to break the breaking line, thereby making it possible to process the milk stored therein, creating an opening that remains open by continuous squeezing.
Upon release of the pressure the stress concentration returns to its original sealed position although not in a sealed state.
Another preferred embodiment of the present invention employs a stress concentrating means located therein against the outside of the dispenser package or container in the previous embodiment, as shown in the dispenser package embodiment.
In this embodiment a small slit or opening is made in the wall of the package or container. The stress concentration is thus located on the interior of the wall across the slit or opening and enclosed therein to prevent the flowable material from contacting the slit or opening. This flowable material therefore flows out of the container or package through the stress concentration and the slit or opening broken by squeezing or bending the dispenser package.
It will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the foregoing brief description and the following detailed description illustrate and illustrate the invention, but do not limit or limit the advantages that may be made by the invention or its various combinations.

The protruding members 26A and 26E are preferably longer than the members 26B to 26D, which act as protective or reinforcing protruding members and preferably on both sides of the short breaking protruding member. The length of the protective members 26A and 26E relative to the inner protruding members 26B to 26D depends on the number, size, spacing and shape of the inner members. And although the length ratio between the protection member which is not broken and the protruding member which is broken varies, generally, a preferable range is 5-20, and a more preferable range is 5-10. The protruding member is also located between the short break protruding members to provide additional support or properties to the stress concentration member 25.
As shown in FIG. 1A, the break line 24 is preferably formed by drawing a notch on the stress concentration member 25 across the stress concentration protrusion pattern 26.
The breaking line 24 only traverses the inner breaking protruding members 26B to 26D.
Although the breaking line 24 of the present invention is not limited to the linear breaking pattern, it is possible to use various breaking patterns or weak areas. The break line 24 also forms an intermittent break line across the plurality of break members, if not all. Furthermore, the break line 24 may traverse the protrusion in the stress-intensive protrusion pattern 26 in a direction different from that shown in FIGS. 1A to 10, depending on factors such as the type of flowable material and the material used.
As mentioned, the long protective protruding members 26A, 26E are preferably not crossed by the breaking line 24 and prevent inadvertent opening of the internal breaking protruding members 26B to 26D during transportation and storage. Moreover, the protection protrusion member without the notch has an upper effect according to the force controlling the way the container is opened.
1B, 1C and 1D show alternative shapes of the stress concentration pattern 26.
In FIG. 1B, the break line 24 on the relatively rigid flat sheet 12 crosses the entire stress concentration pattern 26, which also acts as a break member as well as the break protrusion members 26B, 26C, and 26D. Elongated protruding members 26A and 26E. FIG. 1C shows the break line 24 extending beyond the stress concentration pattern 26 to the side edges of the relatively rigid flat sheet 12. 1D illustrates a stress concentration pattern 26 with inner and outer protrusion members of the same length. Additional shapes and orientations of the protruding members of the stress concentration pattern 26 of the stress concentration member 25 will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art.
Further, the protruding members 26A to 26E preferably form long, thin rib-shaped and channel-shaped shapes.
In FIG. 4A the stress concentration member 25 is shown in cross section with respect to the break line 24.
In a preferred embodiment, the stress concentration protruding members 26A to 26E have a rounded bottom 41 and a sharp bump or vertex 40 to prevent inadvertent fracture. In an alternate embodiment, round bottom 41 and apex 40A, as shown in FIG. 4B, a sharp bottom 41A and advantage 40, and a sharp bottom and round apex, as shown in FIG. 4C, are shown. And combinations thereof.
The stress concentration pattern 26 can also be concave from the plane formed by the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12 as shown in FIG. 4D. Preferred embodiments of dispenser package embodiments are described below.
Recessing the stress concentration pattern 26 not only increases the stiffness of the stress concentration member 25 but also causes the above stress during packing, storage, or transportation due to undesirable downward pressure on the stress concentration pattern 26. Withstand the inadvertent opening of the container using the member 25. As shown in FIG. 4D, the stress concentration pattern 26 preferably has a concave door by an amount B of about 0.030 ″, and the protruding members 26A-26E preferably have an amount D of about 0.080 ″. Spaced apart, preferably (approximately from the plane formed by the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12), an amount C of about 0.080 " depth.
The thickness of the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12 is 0.006 ″ along the outer plane as well as within the stress concentration pattern, but may range in thickness from 0.004 to 0.012 ″. Preferably, the protruding members 26A to 26E have a round bottom 41 and a sharp advantage 40. As shown in FIG. 4E, the protruding protrusions 26A and 26E can be recessed deeper than the stress concentration pattern 26 to provide greater support and resistance in the inadvertently or uniformly intended openings, for example. For example, a container containing a potentially hazardous fluid can only be opened by applying sufficient pressure to the container. In addition, the protruding member can be positioned between the breaking members to provide additional support. The sharp or rounded shape and size of the protruding member in the stress concentration pattern 26 can be varied within the pattern, and thus can be combined with the characteristics of the pattern described above.
In particular with reference to FIG. 5 of the accompanying drawings, a dispenser package using a stress concentration member 25 according to the present invention is shown, which is generally indicated by reference numeral 10.
As embodied and illustrated in FIGS. 5A-5C, the dispenser package 10 includes a substantially flat, relatively rigid sheet 12 as described above, which is a sealant / impermeable membrane 14. ) Is provided with a sealant / impermeable film 14 suitably adhered to the inner surface 16 of the sheet 16 so that?
In addition, the integrally adhered integrally to the outer circumference of the sheet 12 or bonded sheet 12 may comprise at least one pouch or chamber 22 adjacent the inner surface 16 of the flat sheet 12 to contain the flowable material. Is a flexible self supporting sheet 18 forming
Advantageously, a layer of suitable sealant / vapor-sealing impermeable membrane material 14, as also preferably embodied herein, is suitable for the flat sheet 12 on the inner surface 16 facing the flexible sheet 18. Are integrally bonded together. Flexible sheets which are advantageously formed by conventional means such as vacuum forming, pressure forming, mechanical forming or combinations thereof, are likewise integrally bonded to the sheets 12 and 14 as they become cases.
In addition, the bonding between the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12, the sealant / impermeable membrane material 14 and the flexible side 18 may be applied to packaging techniques such as welding, heat sealing, or bonding or adhesive bonding. Can be formed by conventional means well known to those skilled in the art, and the particular chosen method of adhesion depends on the material used and the properties of the flowable material to be immersed.
Advantageously and also preferably as described, the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12 is preferably made of high density polyethylene (HDPE), but when combined with the impermeable membrane 14, polystyrene polyester, EVOH (Ethylene vinyl alcohol), or a copolymer thereof, wherein the impermeable membrane 14 is a suitable sealant / vapor-sealed impermeable membrane material comprising silane and foil stack, or foil stack and vinyl, or foil itself. It depends on the nature of the contents to be contained.
Particularly rigid and high barrier structures are made of polyethylene (Dow Chemical Co., Ltd.) when the impermeable film sheet 14, which is sequentially laminated with polystyrene or polyester, forms a substantially flat and relatively hard sheet 12. Manufactured under the trade name "Saranex" and stacked on each side. The thickness of the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12 will vary depending on factors such as the material used and the properties of the contained flowable material and the intended use.
Generally, the preferred range is 4 to 12 mils (0.004 to 0.012 ″) and more preferably 4 to 6 mils. The substantially flat, relatively rigid sheet 12 is also preferably spring-like and flexible and can also be reinforced with rib materials. The adhesion formed between the materials 12, 14 and 18 can be obtained by the conventional means described previously and depends on the nature of the flowable material to be loaded thereon.
These and other equivalents and bonding systems are described in the '640,' 574, '715 and' 982 patents mentioned, the specification of which is incorporated by reference.
The structures of FIGS. 5A-5C form a sealed pouch or chamber 22 in which the flowable material is contained and the flowable material is distributed between the flexible side 18 and the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12, 14. have.
Advantageously, the sealed pouches or chambers 22 may be interconnected by shallow ducts or channels 29 described in more detail in the '715 patent issued to Redmond above, as shown in FIGS. 5A and 5B. A pair of pockets 20, 21 spaced apart laterally are included.
Conventional packaging systems disclosed in the '640,' 574, '715 and' 982 patents have a symmetrical or asymmetrical stress concentration member extending over a plane formed by a substantially flat, relatively rigid sheet 12 and an impermeable film 14. It includes.
As previously described, the higher the protrusion, the more the package can be damaged during transportation and operation.
One of the adjustment factors in determining the required height of the stress-intensive projecting member is the elasticity of the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12 that can be incorporated with the sealant impermeable film layer 14. The reduction in protrusion height causes smaller dispenser openings 30 and less breakage damage per protrusion channel, as shown in FIG.
Therefore, the minimum height of the external protrusions is limited by the plastic type, its thickness and physical properties.
As disclosed in the '574 patent, more dispenser openings and greater flow can be generated by increasing the number of outwardly protruding members.
Moreover, reducing the stress concentration projections in order to significantly extend the overall length of the package greatly increases its rigidity, thus reducing the need for gauges on the top side and allowing low cost.
Because of this rigidity and shallow depth, the outward projections on the package can be straight “V” shaped flutes, ridges or channels adjacent to or along each other.
Nevertheless, the externally protruding members of these conventional systems present several problems and disadvantages due to particularly inadequate fractures.
According to the present invention it is preferably provided with a concave stress concentration pattern 26 as described above, wherein one or more troughs or pull roots are relatively rigid flat sheets 12, instead of the outside as in the previous patent. It extends inward from the outer surface of the.
The stress-intensive protruding member of the present invention can overcome many disadvantages and drawbacks in the prior art.
First, the outer surface of the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12 remains flat without any protruding vertices extending from the plane away from the packaged pouch 22. This provides more packaging effect and reduces the risk of inadvertent rupture during transportation or storage.
Second, the printing on the substantially flat, relatively rigid sheet 12 over the stress concentration pattern 26 remains readable unlike the printing on a conventional external projecting member.
Third, the package stiffness is greatly increased than conventional outer projecting packages due to the "break point" that resists inadvertent opening.
Finally, the shape of the present invention allows the use of thinner and / or softer materials to impart a substantially rigid and relatively rigid sheet 12, as well as an impermeable film 14 that provides significant rigidity to the package in advance. ) Allows the use of inexpensive materials.
Reduced cost and the use of plastic materials make the packaging of the present invention economically and environmentally desirable for all existing dispenser packaging.
As described in detail in the previous Redmond patent, the breaking line 24 is a substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12 when the package 10 is bent in a "V" shape around the breaking line 24. Acts as a guide for limited fracture of
When the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12 is bent into a "V" shaped structure, the stress is concentrated and aggregated in a different manner than the outgoing stress concentration features in the prior art, as in Redmond Patent '574.
Unlike the conventional Redmond patent, the pivot point 31 of the present invention does not lie within or on the surface of the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12, but instead has a reference number in FIGS. 6A and 6B. As shown at 31, it is substantially below the relatively rigid and rigid sheet 12 towards the bottom 41 of the stress-intensive protruding member.
The pivot point 31 is therefore a support point between the vertex 32 of the preferred rounded bottom 41, which becomes the "milling point", and the substantially flat, relatively rigid sheet 12.
As shown in FIGS. 6C and 7B-7E, depending on the action of the forces indicated by A and A ', the pivot point 31 is formed by the outer surface of the substantially flat and relatively rigid sheet 12. Move until you get to the plane.
The grinding force generated by A-A 'movement of the dispenser package 10 causes the grinding point 32 to move in the same direction as the pivot point 31.
The result of this combination of the grinding point and the pivot point in place is that when the package is bent in a "V" shape, the grinding force at the grinding point forces the grinding point into a generally flat, relatively flat plane of the sheet 12.
This generates an arcuate shape on each side of the break stress concentration member, as shown in FIGS. 6C and 7C.
Even if the stress concentration means of the present invention are made in a single or double flood shape, the present invention exhibits more unique characteristics when the number of flutes is increased to 3, 4, 5 or more. In a number of grooves in the stress concentration pattern 26 combined with the use of unfolded protective protrusions 26A, 26E as shown in FIG. 1A, the dispenser package 10 has a "V" shape. When bent, the pattern 26 is inflated outward as shown in FIGS. 7B and 7D to generate an expandable dispensing hole 30 that is approximately shaped like a sphere, soccer ball or ellipse. The hole 30 is a relatively large opening compared to the opening made by the conventional stress concentration portion of Redmond.
Another advantage over the conventional Redmond patent is that the stress concentration means of the present invention do not eject flowable material upon initial failure.
Moreover, the stress concentration means of the present invention do not snap but torn open and thus essentially no flowable material is ejected.
The anti-burst properties disclosed in Redmond's' 715 patent are unnecessary.
Since the anti-spray properties by this property close the flow passages, the removal of this feature at least under stress concentration means that the dispenser package 10, blue cheese, salad dressing, mustard / spice combination, peanut butter, salsa Allow to dispense "lump" products such as sauces and other flowable materials.
Further studies on the package and stress concentration were found to reduce the cost and found that the length of the stress concentrate 26 had to be extended by the length of the package reinforced with a thin film.
While a single long protrusion is effective on the protruding side in stiffness, the distribution of the product is greatly limited. The larger the protrusions, the greater the distribution, but the thicker the material, the more expensive the film.
As shown in FIG. 7, an increase in the number of protrusions or in particular the number of members in the stress concentration as shown in FIG. 7 in which the members are adjacent increases the distribution amount.
The width of adjacent protrusions across the break line 34 And the width of the opening to be. Moreover, this study shows that the preferred accordion-like creases, which are unfolded or folded along the hole 30 to form the same large opening, as shown in FIG. Turned out to have a very large chunk of up to. The accordion pleats are simply flat to create the enlarged aperture 30 in FIG. 7F.
As shown in FIG. 7E, in the expandable aperture 30 when the rigid side halves 10A, 10B interact with the flexible side 18 to squeeze out and release the contents of the pouches 20, 21. The local openings made will be apparent from the foregoing and as shown in FIGS. 7E and 7F to generate a highly directed flow of flowable material.
An additional embodiment of the present invention forms the flexible sheet 18 into two or more discretely packed, very adjacent pouches or chambers, thereby forming a "double" dispenser package. Such double dispenser packaging may contain two or more separate and separated products that are isolated from each other prior to use and are joined simultaneously with opening. Preferably, the dispenser container with multiple chambers is provided with a separate break line across each chamber.
Additional embodiments of the present invention provide compartments of different sizes, in which unequal amounts of different products may be stored separately but precisely and necessarily distributed simultaneously.
The structure of the relatively rigid flat sheet 12 in one of the embodiments described above can be advantageous even when no additional sealant or impermeable film material 14 is required and such structure is within the scope of the present invention.
As described above in connection with the use of topical breaklines, such a structure may be particularly desirable for separating low viscosity flowable materials such as water, cream or liquor from the original dripless packaging into a highly directed stream.
This flowable material does not require any special sealant / impermeable film layer 14 but is a suitable material for dispensers with another advantage of the present invention.
The stress concentration pattern 26 is shown in association with the dispenser package 10 for a small amount of flowable material that is opened by bending the package and breaking along the break line 24. However, the stress concentration pattern 26 may also work by, for example, the internal pressure to squeeze the container or package.
In another embodiment of the present invention, stress concentration pattern 26 may be used in conjunction with a multipurpose container for flowable materials such as orange juice, milk, toothpaste, motor oil, or other flowable materials. Preferably, the stress concentration pattern 26 is opened when squeezing the container and automatically retracts when it is released, thereby covering the packaged flow material, but it is not essential to release the container.
In another embodiment the stress concentration member 25 is all the elements described above, as in the previous embodiment, a relatively rigid flat sheet 12, a series of opposing, closely spaced fluted stress concentration protrusions 26A. And the stress concentration pattern 26, and the breaking line 24, which comprise from to 26E).
The stress concentration member 25 may be formed on or on the top or side of the vessel as shown in FIGS. 8A-8B by heat sealing, bonding, or other attachment methods known to those skilled in the art. It is preferably attached inside.
Shown in FIG. 8A is the stress concentration member 25 on the side of the container 70 for milk or orange juice. The stress concentrating member 25 and the stress concentrating pattern 26 are preferably operated by squeezing the vessel 70 to generate an internal pressure on the stress concentrating pattern 26 to perform the transfer along the break line 24. Let it break as shown.
As a result, the contents can be dispensed. The stress concentration pattern 26 can also be handled by the user so as to break along the break line 24 without the internal pressure inevitably generated by bending the stress concentration pattern 26 to break as described in the dispenser package embodiment. have.
Shown in FIG. 8B is a cylindrical container 71 having a stress concentration member 25 having a stress concentration pattern 26 thereon.
Squeezing the sides of the container 71 breaks the stress concentration pattern 26 until the pressure application is preferably sealed, allowing the user to use the packaged material.
Preferably, the stress concentration member 25 is covered to prevent accidental premature failure of the stress concentration pattern 26. The strut 80 preferably covers the stress concentration pattern 26 during transport and storage. The strut 80 reinforces the stress concentration pattern 26 and helps prevent accidental opening due to accidental pressure on the container prior to use.
Preferably the strut 80 can be easily removed, such as a stripped strut.
9A shows an embodiment of a strut 80, which is a flap cover 81 attached to the surface 70A of the vessel 70 and preferably to the entire stress concentration member 25, and a lid. And a strut member 82 attached to 81 and extending vertically to contact the stress concentration pattern 26 in the stress concentration member 25 as shown in FIG. 9B.
Preferably, the strut member 82 applies the pressure required to open the pattern 26 to the stress concentration pattern 26 in the opposite direction, that is, the strut member 82 has an internal pressure from the inside of the container. The compensation force opposite to the pattern 26 is applied to prevent the projecting member of the pattern 26 from breaking.
Removing the cover 81 together with the support member 82 releases the compensating force that prevents the breaking and opening of the stress concentration pattern 26.
Removal of the lid 81 allows the user to squeeze the container and use the contents stored therein.
9B shows the peel cover 81 on the container surface 70A.
A strut member 82, a stress concentration member 25, and a stress concentration pattern 26 are also shown.
Additional protective cover on stress concentration pattern 26 may include cover 81 without strut 82 or other protective cover readily understood by those skilled in the art.
A strut 80, such as the jar 70, can be used to ensure the seal of the jar for milk products. The strut 80 may be removed to allow the user to use the contents.
Since the stress concentrating member 25 is not resealed, a sealing cover such as an adhesive can be used to be bonded onto the stress concentrating member 25 to provide a hygienic sealing to a perishable product such as milk.
Another use for the stress concentration member 25 is shown in FIGS. 8C-8G. The dispenser package shown in FIGS. 8C-8G has a stress concentrating member 25 along the dispensing surface 83 of the dispenser 72, which dispenser has the shape shown in FIGS. 8C-8F. By folding and sealing the material 18 of the flexible sheet as shown in FIG. 8G and by sealing the edge along the edge 90 as shown in FIG. 8F. As shown in FIG. 8C, the squeezing dispenser 72 breaks the stress concentration pattern 26 to take out the contents stored therein.
The contents of the dispenser 72 are removed by further squeezing the contents.
Another embodiment of the present invention is a new and improved pillow-type container or sachet for ketchup, mustard, and the like. As shown in FIG. 10A, the stress concentration member 25 is attached in the sachet container 73. As shown in FIG.
The sachet 73 of this embodiment includes a pouch formed by laminating an inner layer of polyester, 0.000285: aluminum foil, and 0.0025 "LLDPE coated with a Saran product having a thickness of 0.001" (50 calibers). A portion of the inner layer LLDPE is shown in cross section in FIG. On one surface 73A of the container 73 there is a slit or opening 84 through the stack.
Since the inner layer of the pouch 73 is preferably coated with LLDPE, the stress concentration member 25 allows bending between two surfaces along the support 89 around the stress concentration member 25. It is preferably also coated with a layer of LLDPE about 0.001 "thick so that the stress concentration member 25 is preferably aligned in the pouch to position the break line 24 under the slit opening 84.
The stress concentration member 25 is firmly attached to the inner surface 73B of the pouch 73 just below and around the slit 84, thereby preventing the product in the pouch from contacting the slit opening 84.
When the pouch is easily filled and sealed with a flowable material as in the dispenser package embodiment shown in FIG. 10A, the pouch is bent to a "V" shape where the breakline acts along the vertices of the "V" shape The internal stress concentration pattern 26 of the member 25 is broken to allow the flowable material 88 to flow out of the pouch 73 as shown in FIG. 10B. Preferably, the break line is approximately aligned with the slits in the pouch wall, thereby providing a secure passage to the product to be released from the package during further squeezing. It will be readily understood by those skilled in the art that the shape, orientation and arrangement of the slit openings 84 and stress concentration member 25 on the pouch 73 or other types of vessels using them are within the present invention. .
Another embodiment of the present invention uses stress concentration member 25 in a dome shaped dispenser package for use in products such as butter.
As shown in FIGS. 11A and 11B, the stress concentration member 25 is attached to or forms a flat surface 85 of the container 74, wherein the user can use the substitutive plastic dome 11A. Also shown in FIGS. 11B is a peel tab 87 which the user can pull to open the package in a conventional manner.
However, the stress concentration member 25 provides the user with another way of using the stored butter. By bending the stress concentration member 25 across the break line 24 or by squeezing the plastic dome 86, the user can stress stress projection pattern 26 across the break line 24 as described above. ) Can be broken and the stored material can be used thereby.
Another embodiment of the present invention is a milk container 69, wherein the container is trimmed along one corner to form the surface 91 as shown in FIG.
The container 69 is preferably made of blow molded plastic.
The stress concentration member 25 may be positioned on the surface 91 and may be pressed to initially break and open the protrusion pattern 26.
Squeezing the container 69 as in the previous container embodiment is to open the protrusion pattern 26 and release the pressure so that the pattern 26 contracts.
Preferably the stress concentration member 25 is initially covered by a pull-tab seal, which pull tab seal is removed when the user desires to use the contents.
As mentioned, the user preferably presses and breaks the pattern 26 prior to use.
As will be appreciated by those skilled in the art, the scope of the present invention is not limited to the specific embodiments shown and described herein, and modifications of the present invention may be made without departing from the principles of the present invention and the invention.
