Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively remove and clean a residual toner and various kinds of foreign matters and to reproduce a clean photosensitive surface by making a rotary roller abutting on an image carrier and rotating on the upstream or on the downstream of a cleaning means be a sponge roller containing an abrasive material. CONSTITUTION:The roller 31 press-contacts the surface of a photosensitive drum body 10 with the softness and elasticity of the sponge roller, and removes the residual toner and various kinds of foreign matters which firmly stuck onto the photosensitive surface by the abrasive grain and abrasive material contained in it while subjecting to driven rotation. The size of the grain diameter of the abrasive material contained in it makes the remarkable difference on the abrasive effect, and at the same time affects on the service life of the photosensitive body drum 10 which press-contacts to it and the scraper 32. It might be better that the size of the grain diameter is 15mum; because, the abrasion of the drum 10 and scraper 32 is getting large, if it 15mum. By this method, the copy of excellent image quality can be obtained for a long term without damaging the image.
