Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a sly copying by providing a control module consisting of a processor to process an access to data and a memory to store a processing program and necessary data. CONSTITUTION:The control module 2 is constituted of the processor 21 consisting of a microcomputer to achieve processing necessary for accessing to write/read data and others and of the memory to store the processing program to operate the processor 21 and necessary data. When a tape main body 1 is loaded in the specific position in a read/write device 10, a password is transmitted from the device 10 to the module 2 through an electrode 13 and an external terminal 3. The validity/invalidity of this password is judged by the processor 21 in the module 2, in case the password is valid, a coding/ decoding program stored in the memory 22 is executed, and at the same time, the index part of the memory 22 is made accessible, and thus the communication ready is completed between the read/write device 10 and the control module 2. In such a way, a sly copying can be prevented as well as the security of secrecy of the content of data can be attained.
