Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform measurement at a short distance difficult by a conventional system, by providing a delay circuit in a transmitting or receiving circuit and generating beat frequency even when an actual distance to be measured is 0. CONSTITUTION:Delay circuits 105, 109 are inserted between a transmitting amplifier 104 and a transmitting antenna 106 as well as between a receiving antenna 108 and a receiving amplifier 110. When the delay times of the delay circuits 105, 109 are respectively set to T1, T2, beat frequency fb provides formula (wherein a mark L is the distance from each of the antennas 106, 108 to an object 107 and fp is the repeating cycle of a triangle wave). When planning is performed under condition of L=0 and fbapprox.=10fp, the delay circuits 105, 109 becoming T1+T2=2.5/DELTAF may be provided. In the case of DELTAF=10MHz, T1+T2=0.25mus is formed. By this method, measurement at a short distance difficult by a conventional system becomes possible.
