Abstract
PURPOSE:To mold many kinds of lens stocks into a lens shape with high precision by providing a drum die, a molding die fitting to this drum die and a forceful cooler used for the drum die. CONSTITUTION:A glass lens stock is fed into the through-hole of a drum die 2 and an upper die 5 is successively fitted thereto. Then the drum die, the upper die, a lower die and the glass lens stock are heated until this glass lens stock is reached to a moldable softened state. The glass lens stock is exerted with prescribed force via an upper heater block and the upper die. A heater 9 is cut off when the flange part 5B of the upper die is allowed to abut against the upper face of the drum die 2. The drum die is quickly cooled from the outer peripheral part by using a forceful cooler 12 until a glass lens is reached to transition temp. of the glass lens stock and the rate of shrinkage of the drum die having about 1/2-1/3 expansion coefficient is made large in comparison with the glass lens stock and the glass lens stock is always exerted with pressing force via the upper die.
