Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve laser beam machining quality by storing the sensor output at the time of moving a nozzle by the specified quantity and controlling a gap based on a comparison between the actual output of the sensor consisting of the nozzle and the stored gap. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic capacity sensor is formed of the laser beam machining nozzle 1 and the gap quantity between the tip of the nozzle 1 and a work W is detected by electrostatic capacity CL between both of them. The gap quantity for every 0.1mm, for instance, is registered in advance on a sampling data storage circuit 4 and the output voltage from a sensor circuit 2 is stored in a sensor output storage part corresponding to the gap quantity data and renewed for every sampling. The movement of the nozzle 1 is controlled based on the deviation between the set gap quantity and the gap measured data. By this method, gap control accuracy is improved and replacement frequency of the nozzle 1 is reduced, so the laser beam machining quality is improved.
