Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress a blackening fading and to obtain a color picture tube of little doming by providing an oxidation preventive membrane, which is stable thermally and discharges no unnecessary gas and the like, on a metal black membrane. CONSTITUTION:Even though a baking process is carried out by spreading a water glass membrane 7 on the surface of a black metal back membrane 6, no oxidation reaction is generated by contacting a white metal back membrane 5 and the black metal back membrane 6 directly to the oxygen in the air. Consequently, no gamma<-> alumina is produced and the black metal back membrane 6 can maintain the blackening rate at the level perfectly same as that after the vacuum evaporation, and also no swelling, removal, or the like is generated. In this case, by enlarging the thickness of the water glass membrane 7, a swelling is generated because the gas produced from the organic substance can not escape easily, and by making it smaller, the oxidation preventive effect cannot be obtained. Therefore, the thickness of the water glass membrane 7 is preferable to be in the range of 0.1 to 2.0mum.
