Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the application of an apparatus to the discharge of a plasma for a long time of 1,000sec or more in a nuclear fusion apparatus, by measuring the value of a current flowing through a pickup coil. CONSTITUTION:A pickup coil 2 of a superconductor, a resistor 5 for measuring a current flowing through a switching element 3 and the coil 2, and a means to measure a voltage generated in the resistor 5, are provided. In the coil for which the superconductor is used, a magnetic flux linking to the coil itself is kept up. When the element 3 is closed, in other words, a superconducting current flows through a loop constituted by the coil 2 and the element 3. In the coil put in a magnetic field and found in a superconducting state, consequently, the superconducting current flows in accordance with a change in the magnetic field so that the magnetic flux linking to the coil is kept up. Therefore, the current can be determined and the magnetic field at that time can be measured by opening the element 3 and by measuring the voltage generated in the resistor 5, at the time of measurement of the magnetic field.
