The control unit 30 judges whether or not the temperature change is a rapid change enough to cause the mis-operation of a selecting damper 41. In the case of a rapid change, the light emitting amount of a light emitter 14 is compensated to a preset value. With this constitution, despite a rapid change in temperature, the degree of pollution in outside air can be detected with high accuracy.
