Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect a liquid crystal indicator from its deterioration and breakdown, by providing a temperature detector for outputting a detecting signal for showing a fact that the temperature of the inside of a liquid crystal display device has exceeded a prescribed temperature, and a control means for outputting a control signal for turning off a power source supply of a power source circuit, based on said detecting signal. CONSTITUTION:By installing a temperature detector 15 in the inside of a liquid crystal display device, it is detected that the temperature of the inside of the device has become a high temperature, its detecting output is processed by a control means (microcomputer) 17, and by controlling a power source circuit 14 so that a liquid crystal indicator 11 is not operated for many hours at the time of a high temperature, the liquid crystal indicator 11 is protected. In such a way, it is prevented that the liquid crystal indicator is operated in a high temperature state, the liquid crystal indicator can be protected from its deterioration and breakdown, and especially, in case of using the liquid crystal display device in the inside of a vehicle in which the possibility of operating it at a high temperature is high, a long service life of the liquid crystal indicator can be realized by this protecting circuit.
