Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a fault caused in a transmission line by providing a photosensor and an optical fault detecting circuit. CONSTITUTION:The light sensor detecting the arrival of a signal is provided to the reception side of the transmission line and when a signal S19 from the light sensor is '0', outputs S20, S21 at Q from DFF registers 24, 25 of the optical fault detecting circuit go to a high level and counters 30, 31 start counting. When the signal S19 is zero over the count set by the counters 30, 31, outputs S22, S23 are sent from the counters 30, 31 and when both the signals are logical '1', a light detection signal S24 goes to a high level. That is, if no optical signal exists in the optical transmission line, the output of the light detecting circuit goes to a high level. Thus, a fault caused in the transmission line can be detected with simple circuit constitution.
