Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide synthetic heat treatment oil stably usable over a long period by using monoalkylnaphthalene represented by a specified general formula as the oil or the base of the oil. CONSTITUTION:This heat treatment oil is made of monoalkylnaphthalene represented by the formula (where R is 10-24C sec. or tert. alkyl) or contains the monoalkylnaphthalene as the base. The oil has high oxidation stability without requiring the addition of an antioxidant and also has superior cooling characteristics, brightness and safety. The cooling characteristics can further be improved by adding an oil soluble polymer having >=800 average mol.wt.
