Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the fixing site of a bioactive protein such as enzyme with light-irradiation, by chemically bonding a bioactive protein to nitrene or carvene in a water-insoluble organic thin film, thereby forming a functional organic thin film. CONSTITUTION:A water-insoluble organic thin film containing a precursor of nitrene or carvene is formed on a substrate and is irradiated with light in the presence of a bioactive protein to effect the immobilization of the microbioactive protein on the organic thin film and the production of a functional organic thin film. Representatives of the above precursor are azide and azide compound as a precursor for nitrene ad alpha-diazoketones or aryldiazirine compound as a precursor for carvene. These precursors are sensitive to visible or ultraviolet light and form nitrene or carvene.
