Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the supply of a clock signal by applying frequency multiplex to a transmission signal light and a clock signal light from a sender side, sending the result to all optical transmission line, mixing the multiplex signal light and the local oscillated light at the receiver side to apply heterodyne detection. CONSTITUTION:A transmission signal light 2 modulated by a transmission signal 1 and a clock signal light 4 modulated by the clock signal 3 are subject to frequency multiplex and the result is sent to the optical transmission line 5. The multiplex signal light 6 sent via an optical transmission line 5 at the reception side and the local oscillated light 7 are mixed and the result is made incident in the photodetector 8 to apply heterodyne detection. Then the detection signal is separated by band pass filters 9,10 having a frequency difference between the frequency of the transmission signal light 2 and the clock signal light 4 and the frequency of the local oscillation light 7 in their pass bond to reproduce the original transmission signal 1 and the clock signal 3.
