Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily produce a metal mold for press molding, etc., by placing a reversal model of a desired product in a molding frame having slits, putting a slurry contg. metal powder for sintering into the model, pressuring the powder to form a molding, and sintering the molding, then impregnating the melt of a specific metal into the pores of a sintered body and solidifying the melt. CONSTITUTION:The reversal model 5 having a transfer surface 5A of a shape resembling to the shape of the molded product is set in the molding frame 4. The slurry 7 prepd. by mixing the metal powder to be sintered, an org. binder such as acrylic resin and an org. solvent as a solvent for this org. binder is packed therein and is compressed by a plunger 6. The liquid component of the slurry is discharged from the slits S of the molding frame and the metal powder molding 7A is thus formed. The slits S are formed to 10mum<=S<=3Xd width (d is the particle size of the metal powder). After the molding 7A is dried, the molding is sintered to form the porous sintered body having >70% relative density. The metal 9 such as copper or Al having the m.p. lower than the m.p. of the metal of the sintered body 7B is placed on the surface thereof and is heated to impregnate the melt of the above- mentioned metal into the pores from the surface of the sintered body 7B, then the melt is solified, by which the metallic mold consisting of the upper mold and lower mold 7E is easily produced.
