Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a picture from being disturbed at the joint of edition at reproduction by detecting a bent of track by other magnetic head before a magnetic scanns on it and controlling the position of the magnetic head based on the detection signal. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic heads 5, 6 scan track to be scanned by a magnetic head 3 or 4 before a prescribed time. In the case of insert edition, a tracking error signal from the heads 5, 6 is detected by a tracking error detection circuit 8. When the magnetic head 3 or 4 comes to the start point of the insert edit, the mode is selected to be the recording mode and the tracking error signal detected by the circuit 8 is fed to an electro-mechanical conversion element drive circuit 10 through a delay circuit 9 to control the electro-mechanical conversion element 1 or 2. Then a new video signal is recorded while the position of the magnetic head 3 or 4 is being controlled. Thus, the signal is recorded with nearly the same track bent as the track recorded before the edition, resulting that the disturbance of a picture at the point of edition at reproduction is eliminated.
