[Detailed Description of the Invention] The applicant previously pointed out the inconsistency of the current telephone system through Japanese Patent Application No. 50-49423. This proposed a means to eliminate telephone pollution such as prank calls and threatening calls by displaying the information on the side display device. Furthermore, through Japanese Patent Application No. 160120/1987, a means to cope with the international spread of this device was proposed,
At that time, he proposed a method that would display a U character in front of the caller's number when making a call from a public telephone. However, no matter how much the calling party number is displayed, there are cases where the caller cannot be remembered. In such cases, it is desirable that the caller's face be displayed on the telephone. It would be perfect if the phone number was also displayed. Therefore, the applicant has filed this application based on the above social needs.

In other words, the first purpose of Honkao is to activate the image pickup tube (such as a television camera) on the caller side by the ring back tone that is sent back to the caller when a paging signal is received. To provide a system in which the image reaches the called party via a video line and a video exchange, and is displayed on the picture tube of the called party while the telephone bell is ringing. be.

Normally, this type of exchange has a common control unit, which transmits a dial tone to TEL-1 and at the same time captures the video lines l 1 and l 2 of VIO-1.
When the calling subscriber finishes dialing, the common control unit checks the voice tandem switch or the accompanying video tandem switch, and after confirming that there is a vacant space, returns the voice switch to the called subscriber's voice switch.
The common control unit of the called subscriber's switch sends a control signal to the voice switch LS-2, thereby causing the called subscriber's switch common control unit to
2 and the video switch SBLS-2 to send a paging signal to the called subscriber TEL-2.
It is an object of the present application to enable the called party to identify the calling party while listening to the ringing signal and before taking off the handset as described above. This will be discussed below.

That is, when the ringing signal rings on the telephone of the called party,
LS-2 uses the so-called ring back tone as LS-1.
It is already known that a ring back tone can be heard by the caller who puts the handset of the telephone TEL-1 to his ear. To simplify the explanation, we will assume that the ringing signal is the ringing of the bell inside the telephone, and that there is a pick-up coil nearby.
It is assumed that there is a PL1, a calling signal is detected by this PL1, the relay Y-1 is operated in response to the call signal, and the contacts of the relay supply power, etc., and put AI-1 in an operating state. Note that instead of the pickup coil, a circuit may be used which is directly connected to the telephone line and is activated only by the ringback tone of the telephone. Since the ringback tone is weaker than the ringing signal itself, it is safer to pick it up directly from the telephone line. Therefore, the image pickup tube is positioned so that the face of the caller holding the handset is reflected on the called party's phone, so the video signal capturing the image of the caller is transmitted from AI-1 to SBLS- 1 and reaches SBLS-2, and then passes through the picture receiving line l3 to the picture tube CR on the called party's side.
The video will be connected to -2. Therefore, the called party can confirm the other party's face through the picture tube CR-2 while the doorbell is ringing. It should be noted that it is considered normal for a sophisticated device like the one in the present application to be attached with a caller's number display device as described in the earlier application, so this number is also displayed on the called party's display device at the same time. will be displayed. Note that this display device may use a television picture tube, but the image reflected on a television picture tube is usually not very precise, and it is rather difficult to display a telephone number, etc. at the same time on a picture tube in a small space. Often lacking in precision. Therefore, as mentioned in the above reference, it would be more practical to install a display device exclusively for number display in a part of the telephone set, which would actually improve clarity. Therefore, the called party can know both the face and telephone number of the caller in advance while the doorbell is ringing, thereby confirming the other party before picking up the handset. Normally, in a videophone call, when the handset is picked up, an image of the called person is captured by the image pickup tube AI-2, and this image is received by the caller's picture tube, and in this way, an exchange connection is established between the two parties. It is. After that, both parties can have a voice conversation while looking at each other's facial expressions. Normally, in a videophone, when one of the two parties goes off-hook, the power to the picture tube is turned off, and the system returns to the next standby state. This point is similar in the present application, and when either of them goes off-hook, the telephone line is restored, the video equipment is restored, and the system waits for the next standby state.

As described above, when the calling party dials the called party in a videophone call, the called party can see the face and telephone number of the calling party while the doorbell rings. This allows you to decide whether to answer the call or leave it to answering machine, etc., and is useful in preventing so-called telephone pollution such as prank calls and threatening calls, as well as in daily business operations. The present invention also has an unprecedented effect, and the applicant claims a patent within the above scope. Note that the method and structure may be changed without departing from the spirit of the invention of the present application.

1. When the calling party takes off the handset of the telephone and dials the telephone number of the other party (the called party), the called party's telephone station receives the dialing information and sends a ringing signal to the called party's telephone. A switching device that operates by detecting the ringback tone of the calling signal sent back to the calling party's telephone operates the image pickup tube, and transmits the imaged video signal of the calling party via the video line to the calling party's telephone station. The called party's telephone office sends the video signal to the video line (on the called party's side) when the calling signal is sent out, and operates when the calling signal first arrives. A video telephone system characterized by projecting an image of the caller on the called party's receiver.
