In recent years, washer/dryer combination devices in which a dryer is placed above the washing machine via a stand have become popular. The idea is to integrate the outer box. In the case of such an integrated combination device, the operating timers for both the washer and dryer are arranged in a common operation box, and they are configured to be connected to a power outlet with a single power cord. be done. However, a dryer has a built-in heater, and the current value during operation is as large as approximately 14A, while a washing machine uses a current of approximately 2A during washing operation. However, household power outlets generally have a rated current of 15A, so when installing the above-mentioned integrated combination device, consider operating both the washer and dryer at the same time, and check the rated current of 15A. Having to install a dedicated outlet with a large current is a hassle, and if you don't have a dedicated outlet, you have to be careful not to run the washer and dryer at the same time.
This poses a problem of being cumbersome to use.

Next, the operation of the above configuration will be explained. In order to dry the laundry that has been washed and dehydrated in the washing machine 1, it is stored in a rotating drum in the dryer 1, and a drying control timer 16 is set and operated. At this time, the heater selection switch 23 is normally set to the on state, so when the cam switches 18 and 19 are closed by the drying control timer 16 setting operation, the drive motor 20 and both heaters 21 and 22 are closed.
is energized to start a drying operation that rotates the rotary drum and supplies hot air inside it, and
Relay coil 26b of third relay 26 is energized to close its normally open switch 26a. During such drying operation, there may be cases where the washing machine 1 wants to wash another item of laundry. In this case, when the washing control timer 7 is set, the washing motor 14 is energized and the washing operation starts, but at the same time, the relay coil 24b of the first relay 24 is also energized, so the third relay 26 In addition to the normally open switch 26a of the first relay 24, the normally open switch 24a of the first relay 24 is also closed, and the normally open switches 24a and 26a form an energizing path for the relay coil 27b of the fourth relay 27. The normally closed switch 27a of the fourth relay 27 is opened to cut off the power to the auxiliary heater 22. In addition, there are cases where it is desired to dehydrate the laundry after washing while the drying operation continues. In this case as well, when the dehydration control timer 11 is set and operated, the relay coil 25 of the second relay 25 is activated at the same time as the dehydration motor 15 is energized.
b is also energized, so in addition to the normally open switch 26a of the third relay 26, the normally open switch 25a of the second relay 25 is also closed, and both normally open switches 25a are closed.
and 26a form an energizing path for the relay coil 27b of the fourth relay 27, thereby opening the normally closed switch 27a of the fourth relay 27 and cutting off the power to the auxiliary heater 22.

When the washing machine 1 and the dryer 2 are operated simultaneously in this way, this simultaneous operation is controlled by the first to third relays 2.
4 to 26, the fourth relay 27 is activated, and the auxiliary heater 22 is cut off by the fourth relay 27. Therefore, when drying operation is performed alone, the power consumption is reduced. about
It is 1400W, and the current value of the power cord 6 connected to a general household 100V single-phase AC power supply is approximately 14A.
On the other hand, when washing or dehydrating operations are performed at the same time as drying operations, the power consumption is approximately
1200W, 1100W, and even if drying operation, washing operation, and dehydration operation were performed at the same time, the total power consumption would be approximately 1300W, and in any of the simultaneous operation modes, the current value of the power cord 6 is higher than that of a general power outlet. The rated current value will not exceed 15A. Therefore, there is no need to provide a dedicated outlet with a large rated current, and the troublesome wiring work can be eliminated.

On the other hand, if the washing machine 1 and dryer 2 are operated at the same time, the auxiliary heater 22 is cut off and heating is switched to the main heater 21 only, so a drop in the temperature of the hot air supplied to the rotating drum is unavoidable. ,
The drying operation time is usually long, 1.5 to 2 hours, whereas the washing operation and dehydration operation are usually short, about 15 minutes and 5 minutes, respectively. Moreover, once the washing operation or dehydration operation is stopped, the first When the relay 24 or the second relay 25 is cut off, its normally open switch 24a or 25a opens the energized path of the fourth relay 27, and as a result, the normally closed switch 27a of the fourth relay 27 is closed. As a result, the power-off time of the auxiliary heater 22 is shorter than the drying operation time, and therefore problems such as adverse effects on the drying effect hardly occur.

In the above embodiment, two heaters were provided for the dryer, but there may be three or more heaters. If there are three or more heaters, at least one heater must be left when the washer and dryer are operated simultaneously. It is sufficient to turn off the power to the other heaters, and the number of heaters to be cut off may be appropriately determined by taking into consideration the power consumption of each heater and the power consumption of the washing machine.

As is clear from the above description, the present invention is to control the total current value so that it does not exceed a certain value even when the washer and dryer are operated individually as well as when both are operated simultaneously. This makes it possible to operate both the washing machine and dryer at the same time without having to install a dedicated outlet with a large rated current. In addition, in the case of simultaneous operation, a predetermined number of heaters out of the multiple heaters of the dryer can be operated simultaneously. Even if the washing machine is cut off, at least one heater will remain energized, and the cut-off heater will be returned to the energized state when the washing machine finishes operating, so there is almost no possibility that the drying effect will be adversely affected. , it is possible to provide a washer/dryer combination device that is practically comparable to the case where a dedicated outlet is provided.
