Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent unnecessary toner from sticking and to improve picture quality by applying a voltage selectively between a recording electrode and a counter electrode and forming a toner image on an insulating recording body, and forming part of the surface of the insulating recording body by using a water-repellent material. CONSTITUTION:The recording electrode 1 constitutes a multistylus where electrode styli 2 in plural groups are arranged in array. On the other, a magnetic toner developing device 6 which has a rotating magnetic roller 5 is installed in a fixed cylindrical sleeve 4 opposite the recording electrode 3 across the insulating recording body 3. Further, the counter electrode 7 which is divided into plural segments is arranged on the cylindrical sleeve 4 in contact. When an image is recorded, magnetic toner is transferred to the outer periphery of the cylindrical sleeve 4, a voltage corresponding to an image signal is applied to an electrode stylus 2, and a voltage having the opposite polarity is applied to the counter electrode 7 to stick the magnetic toner on the insulating recording body 3, forming a toner image. The water-repellent material layer 33 is formed on the flat surface side of the insulating recording body 3 to make the surface hard to wet with water molecules, so no excessive toner is stuck, thereby suppressing fogging.

As explained with reference to FIGS. 6 and 7, the insulating recording body 3
After forming the toner image on the insulating recording medium 3, the insulating recording medium 3 is rotated, the recording paper 12 is conveyed parallel to the insulating recording medium 3 by the roller 9 that is in contact with the ground, and the toner image is transferred from the back side using the transfer roller 13. The image is transferred to recording paper 12. After that, the recording paper 12
The upper transferred image is fixed to the recording paper 12 by the fixing device 14. On the other hand, the insulating recording body 3 is further rotated, and at the portion where the corona static eliminators 16 and 17 are arranged facing each other on both sides of the insulating recording body 3, alternating voltages having different phases are applied to the respective corona static eliminators. When the magnetic toner is added, the charge of the magnetic toner remaining on the insulating recording medium 3 is erased, and the force with which the magnetic toner adheres to the insulating recording medium 3 is weakened. Furthermore, an insulating recording body 3
When the toner is rotated and conveyed to the recording section, the remaining magnetic l.toner is collected by the magnetic force of the magnetic roller 5 in the magnetic toner developing device 6.

As described above, the recording process is repeated to output an image, and since such a recording device performs the latent image forming process using the recording electrode and the developing process using the developing machine at the same time, it is difficult to use an output device such as a facsimile. This has the advantage of simplifying the device configuration, making it smaller and cheaper. Furthermore, since magnetic toner is used, untransferred toner can be collected in a developing machine and reused without cleaning, which has the advantage of easy maintenance and low consumables prices.

FIG. 9 shows a configuration in which the electrostatic recording device described above is used as an image display device. This electrostatic recording device for image display consists of a recording section A, a display section B, and a static elimination section C. Recording section A
The structure and operation of the static eliminator C are the same as those of the electrostatic recording apparatus shown in FIGS. 6 to 8. The toner image formed on the insulating recording medium 3 in the recording section A is transferred to the display section B and displayed. During this image display period or in the image input waiting state, the movement of the insulating recording body 3 is stopped, and the static elimination action and rotation of the magnetic roller are also stopped.

The reason for this is that when the humidity is high, the surface of the insulating recording medium gets wet due to moisture in the atmosphere, forming a thin film of water, and a large van der Waals force acts on the toner, causing the toner to adhere to the surface of the insulating recording medium. It is thought that this is because of this.

Furthermore, in the electrostatic recording device for image display, when the continuous heddle-shaped insulating recording medium is stopped during image display, toner particles adhere to the portion of the insulating recording medium facing the developing machine. At this time, since the magnetic roller is also stopped, there is no cleaning effect by the magnetic brush, and therefore, the adhesion of toner particles increases and horizontal streaks of toner are formed on the insulating recording medium. Such horizontal stripes appear on the display when the screen is scrolled, causing discomfort and deteriorating display quality.

In order to achieve the above object, in the present invention, a recording electrode and a magnetic toner developing machine are disposed facing each other with an insulating recording body interposed therebetween, and a sleeve containing a magnetic roller of the magnetic toner developing machine is disposed opposite to the recording electrode. A counter electrode divided into a plurality of segments is disposed, and a voltage is selectively applied between the recording electrode and the counter electrode to form a toner image on the insulating recording body, and then the toner image is displayed as an image. Or, in an electrostatic recording device that repeatedly performs recording while transferring the magnetic toner onto a recording paper, then removing the electric charge of the magnetic toner on the insulating recording body, and collecting the magnetic toner by the magnetic force of a magnetic toner developing machine. - To provide an electrostatic recording device characterized in that at least a part of the surface of the insulating recording body is made of a water-repellent material.

FIG. 4 is a sectional view of still another embodiment of the insulating recording body 3 according to the present invention. In this example, the base film 30
(For example, a Mylar film with a thickness of 9 to 16 μm) is coated with a water-repellent material layer 35 on a part of the surface to a thickness of about 1 to 15 μm. Such an insulating recording body 3 is used in an electrostatic recording device for image display, as shown in FIG. The portion where the tΩ aqueous material layer 35 is provided is the seam portion of the belt of the insulating recording body 3 and the portion where the roller 10 is located on the opposite side when this seam portion comes to a position facing the developing device 6. . Since the thickness of the insulating recording medium 3 becomes thick at the joint portion of the belt, sufficient image density cannot be obtained with a predetermined recording voltage. Therefore, in order to remove this seam from the printing area, the seam is first detected by a sensor, and when the seam reaches the position of the developing machine, the movement of the insulating recording medium, the magnetic roller, etc. are stopped, and the image signal is output. Set to wait state. Subsequently, the insulating recording medium is moved to form an image by transferring image signals, and when the joint reaches the position of the roller 10, the movement of the insulating recording medium is stopped and an image is displayed.
