Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct an error in setting a printing paper and enhance operability, by detecting the presence or absence of the printing paper by a sensor, and controlling a printing-starting position for a printing paper and the number of printing positions on the basis of the width of the paper. CONSTITUTION:Before starting printing, a carrier 106 provided with a printing head 108 and a paper sensor 107 in a body is moved from the left end to the right end. An output from the paper sensor 107 is inputted to a right end detecting circuit 204 and a left end detecting circuit 205 for a printing paper, thereby detecting the right and left ends of the paper, and detection signal are outputted to a left end position calculating circuit 207 and a left end position calculating circuit 208. An output from a reference sensor 110 is inputted to a reference detecting circuit 206, an edge of a shielding plate 112 is detected, and a detection signal is outputted to a reference position calculating circuit 209. An output from an encoder 103 is inputted to the calculating circuits 207, 208, 209, and calculated positions are outputted to a controlling part 210. The controlling part 210 calculates the difference between the reference position and the left end position, thereby correcting a printing-starting position corresponding to the first character. The controlling part 210 also calculates the difference between the left end position and the right end position, and prevents printing from being performed on a space outside the printing paper.

Means for Solving the Problems In order to achieve the above object, the printing control method according to the present invention includes: providing a printing paper detection sensor in the carrier section of the printing device;
This detection sensor detects the left end and right end of the printing paper and corrects the print start position of the line from these. It is also characterized in that it calculates the width of the printing paper and performs printing control based on control data such as the printing paper width that is transferred in advance from a higher level.

The reference position calculation circuit 209 calculates the position of the carrier 106 by detecting the reference and inputting the encoder signal, and outputs the calculated position to the control unit 210 as the reference device position of the printing paper. The right edge position calculation circuit 207 calculates the position of the carrier 106 by detecting the right edge and inputting an encoder signal, and outputs the calculated position to the control unit 210 as the right edge position of the printing paper. Similarly, the left edge position calculation circuit 208 calculates the position of the carrier 106 based on left edge detection and encoder signal input, and outputs it to the control unit 210 as the left edge position of the printing paper.
