Abstract

PURPOSE:To constitute simply and singly a front end part of a radio equipment possible for transmission and reception by devising the equipment that a mixer actslike a down-converter at the reception, the mixer acts like an up-converter at the transmission so as to change over the packet switch. CONSTITUTION:A ring modulator 17 is used as a 2-way frequency converter. After a signal received by an antenna 13 is inputted to the ring modulator 17 acting like a down-converter via a band pass filter 14, the result is fed to a line 21 via a packet switch 19 and sent to a reception circuit. A transmitter intermediate frequency output in the line 20 is fed to the ring modulator 17 via the packet switch 19 at the transmission and subject to up-convert, then the result is sent from the antenna 13.

In addition, independent circuit components are used for transmission and reception, except for the antenna and the antenna coupling section. Such devices are capable of transmitting and receiving simultaneously and are also capable of handling analog signals. However, in recent years, TDMA or packet transmission methods have been increasingly adopted for data transmission, and there is no longer a need for simultaneous transmission and reception.
