Abstract

PURPOSE:To secure the call quality of a voice to minimum and to improve the service quality of the data at the time of high traffic by taking priority over the minimum necessary bit only and by handling other bits in the same way as a data packet in order to preserve intelligibility. CONSTITUTION:A packet having the priority assembled by an assembling dissolving circuit 2 is sent to a buffer 5 and a non-priority packet is sent to a buffer 6 respectively and they are read and sent to a transmission line 8 by an access control circuit 7 at the time of necessities. The data from an input output line 3 are sent to the buffer 6 through an interface 4 and sent to the transmission line 8 in the same way as the non-priority packet of the voice. The control circuit 7 controls a local area network with priority by means of prescribed procedures. At the time of receiving, an input packet from the transmission line 8 is received by the control circuit 7, and sent, in accordance with the judging results of a voice/data, through the interface 4 or the assembling dissolving circuit 2 to the line 8 or a coding voice input output line 1.

However, this system often has the disadvantage that when the load on the network increases, only voice packets are transmitted and almost no data packets are transmitted, resulting in very poor service quality for data communication users.

(Objective of the Invention) The object of the present invention is to give priority to only the least necessary bits to maintain intelligibility among the clear information in voice packets, and to treat the remaining bits in the same way as data packets. Is there a control method that can improve the data quality compared to conventional methods while ensuring the minimum call quality?
I will offer it to you.

(Structure of the Invention) According to the present invention, voice and data are packetized and communicated,
In a local area network with an access control scheme that gives voice packets priority over data packets,
means for dividing the bits in one word of the encoded audio signal into two groups and forming the plurality of words into two audio packets for each said group, one packet i having priority over said data packet but not the other. The packets shall be treated in the same manner as the data packets.-The voice/data integrated local area network control system characterized by In order to give priority to 1%t of the necessary bits in transmission, the receiving side must restore the audio signal using only the minimum necessary bits in one word during high traffic, but in the case of audio signals, This method takes advantage of the fact that even if bits with low weight in one word are lost, intelligibility is maintained, although speech quality deteriorates to some extent.

(Example) Next, drawing 'f! : Examples of the present invention will be described with reference to the following. FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing one embodiment of the present invention. For sending? The input from the encoded voice input 1 is packetized by the voice packet assembly and disassembly circuit 2.

FIG. 2 shows the packet 7-omasoto after it has been packetized. Here, it is assumed that the encoded audio is encoded using the 8-bit PCM system, each word is 8 bits, and is subjected to 8 MHz processing/pulling (125μ3 cycles). Furthermore, the packetization period is assumed to be (125Xn) μS. Therefore, one packet contains encoded speech of n words.

In this embodiment, the 8-pit bits of one word are divided into groups into the upper 6 bits and the lower 2 bits, and the packets in the 6-bit group are treated as priority packets, and the packets in the 2-bit group are treated as non-priority packets.

In FIG. 1, priority packets assembled by the audio packet assembly/disassembly circuit 2 are sent to the priority buffer 5, and non-priority packets are sent to the non-priority buffer 6. They are read by the access control circuit 7 when necessary and sent to the transmission path 8. Sent out.

Further, the input from the data input line 3 is sent to the non-priority buffer 6 after being subjected to necessary conversion by the data interface circuit 4, and is sent to the transmission line 8 in the same manner as non-priority voice packets. The access control circuit 7 performs the above control using a known control procedure for priority local area networks.

At the time of reception, as in the normal case, the input packet from the transmission line 8 is received by the access control circuit 7, the voice/data is determined, and the packet is sent to the voice packet assembly/disassembly circuit 2 or the data interface circuit 4 accordingly. In contrast, after each circuit processes the encoded audio input/output line 1 or data? Output to input/output line 3.

(Effects of the Invention) As explained above, in the present invention, since the bits with light weight of the encoded audio signal are sent as non-priority packets, only the audio is sent when there is a high traffic rate, and most of the data is not transmitted. It is possible to eliminate the disadvantage of no transmission, and by imposing some deterioration in voice quality, the overall traffic balance can be maintained, and the serviceability of data communication can be improved.
