Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optical reader which can prevent the invasion of dust by fitting a light transmission body having a lens part and a shielding part, into the opening surface of a case, condensing and irradiating the light of a light source by the lens part, and photodetecting a reflected light by an image sensor. CONSTITUTION:A data is read by holding a case 1, condensing a light from an LED4 by a lens part 8 and irradiating it to a label in which a bar code is recorded, reflecting a reflected light by a reflecting mirror 5, and also photodetecting a light condensed by a lens 6, by an image sensor 7. When the label 15 is stuck to a can, the case 1 is stabilized and read can be executed easily by making the arc surface of a window frame 12 contact to the outside periphery of the can. The window frame 12 is formed by a soft material, and also a light transmission body 3 is installed to the inner part of the window frame, therefore, there is no possibility that a commodity is flawed. Also, the light transmission body 3 prevents an invasion of dust from an opening surface, therefore, it is unnecessaty to clean the inside of the case 1. To the outside surface of the light transmission body 3, dust adheres, but it can be wiped off very easily by removing the window frame 12.

Technical background of the invention and its problems Conventionally, at least a light source and an image sensor are provided in a case with an opening formed at the tip, and light from the light source is projected onto the surface of a record carrier such as a bar code. There are devices in which data from reflected light is read by an image sensor, but they have the drawback that dust can get inside. Depending on the arrangement of the image sensor, the reflected light from the record carrier is refracted by a reflecting mirror, and the image sensor receives the reflected light that passes through a condensing lens. Sensors and the like are located far away from the opening of the case, making them difficult to clean. Although it is possible to wipe off the dust from the reflective mirror closest to the aperture using a cotton swab soaked in alcohol, it is impossible to clean the condenser lens and image sensor located at the back. Therefore, the case must be disassembled to remove dust, which is extremely inefficient. It is also common practice to focus the light from a light source using a lens and then irradiate it onto the record carrier, but this lens is likely to be damaged if it is not positioned deep from the opening of the case. In this case, the reflective mirror cannot be cleaned without disassembling the case.

Summary of the Invention This invention involves fitting a transparent body having a lens part and a shielding part to the opening surface of a case, condensing light from a light source with the lens part and irradiating it onto a record carrier, and preventing reflection from the record carrier. Light is received by an image sensor and the data is read optically, and the opening surface of the case is entirely covered with a transparent material to prevent dust from entering the case.Furthermore, there is a window at the tip of the case. By attaching the frame, the transparent body is prevented from being scratched, and furthermore, by removing the window frame, dust adhering to the transparent body can be easily removed.

1 is a case that is divided into two parts, and this case 1 has an opening surface 2.
A light transmitting body 3, an LED 4 as a light source, a reflecting mirror 5, a condensing lens, an image sensor 7, etc. are arranged in order from the rear toward the back. The light-transmitting body 3 is formed by integrally forming a lens part 8 for condensing light from the LED 4 and a shielding part 9 from acrylic resin, and is fixedly fitted into the opening surface 2. Further, the light transmitting body 3 is colored so as to transmit only light in a wavelength region around 600 nm, for example, so that the image sensor 7 is not affected by disturbance light.

Furthermore, elastically bending locking claws 10 are formed on both sides of the opening surface 2 of the case 1, and a cylindrical shape having a locking hole 11 that elastically engages with these locking claws 10 is formed. A window frame 12 is provided. A four part 13 is formed on one side of the window frame 12, and a concave arc surface 14 is formed on the opposite side. Furthermore, the window frame 12 is made of a soft material such as rubber.

In such a configuration, the case 1 is held and the LEr3
4 is focused by a lens unit 8 and irradiated onto a label 15 on which a barcode is recorded, the reflected light from the label 5 is reflected by a reflection mirror 5, and the light focused by a lens 6 is sent to an image sensor. 7 reads the data on the label 5 by receiving the light. If the barcode recorded on the label 15 is narrow enough to be covered by the window frame 12, the position of the barcode can be determined through the recess 13. Moreover, when the label 15 is pasted on the can,
By bringing the arcuate surface 14 into contact with the outer periphery of the can, the case 1 can be stabilized and reading can be facilitated. Window frame 12
Since it is made of soft material, there is no risk of scratching the product. Since the transparent body 3 is attached to the back of the window frame 12, it will not interfere with the product and cause damage. Furthermore, since the transparent body 3 prevents dust from entering through the opening surface 2, the trouble of cleaning the inside of the case 1 can be eliminated. Although dust adheres to the outer surface of the transparent body 3,
It can be wiped off very easily by removing the window frame 12.

Effects of the Invention Since the present invention is constructed as described above, it is possible to prevent dust from entering the inside of the case by using the transparent body, and to save the trouble of cleaning dust from some of the internal parts.
The window frame prevents interference between the translucent body and the product, preventing scratches on the translucent body, and by removing the window frame, dust adhering to the outer surface of the translucent body can be easily wiped away. It has the effect that it can be done.
